7am Sunday morning needs a little poetic justice every now and then.

I don’t think I’d lived enough life or experienced enough loss, pain, love or heartbreak to fully understand or appreciate Leonard Cohen as a young man.

He is definitely an artist that I’ve become more in tune with as Ive aged & lived my life.
I just couldn’t have made that kind of emotional connection to it as a 14 year old.

I think I was actually 14/15 the first time I heard him; through his incredible song “Everybody Knows” that was featured in the 1990 Christian Slater movie Pump Up The Volume.
Long live Happy Harry Hard-On!

Cohen became a bigger part of my life after moving to Canada almost 20 years ago.
He is engrained in the culture here; a national hero whose effect on Canadian art, music and culture can never truly be measured.

Irreplaceable.
