Does Mastodon have people who review comics? I was recommended try to find out people willing to give my comicbook - or the Web comic - an honest review.

I cannot provide book copies, but the webcomic is entirely free to read in Tapastic, and the first 100 comics are the ones shown in the comicbook. It isn't exactly same experience visually, as the book contains bonus art and comics, but technically it is the same thing.

#comics #ComicReview #Reviewer #WebcomicReview #Bookstodon #FediHelp

Sidenote: I can't pay for reviews (far too poor for that), so I am looking for people who would do it to support disability awareness efforts.

The whole goal of my comic is to get people to learn about Idiopathic Hypersomnia, and start talking about it so medical professionals would take it more seriously and offer help instead of decades of dismissal.

Or in turn, I can barter art in exchange for an honest review. (:

Sidenote of a sidenote:

The webcomic has about 170 comic strips, all based on real life experiences of mine as a person suffering from a rare, neurological sleep disorder - the comicbook is LGBTQAI+ and disability friendly. Some parts are heavy, but others have many laughs in them. (:

So there is plenty to read and enjoy.

@hiisikoloart It is a well balanced book.💗
@ninetiger
Thank you. <3 I did try to arrange them in a way that the gloimy bits don't get too heavy - but since the webcomic is how ever I felt in those periods of my time, they may get bit heavier to read episode after episode. (^_^)*
@hiisikoloart I 'm curious enough to give it due attention if a pdf version is available ...

@Beatpoet13
Unfortunately there is only paperback version for sale. But you can read the webcomic version (which includes only the 100 comics, no bonuses) for free from my Tapastic or Kofi. (:

@hiisikoloart The era of phone based comic page design is interesting.

I like that it's a three panel comic. I'm not a fan of the vertical layout of the three panels that requires one scrolls. I think the comic is very cute.

It definitely speaks to me so far.

@OliviaVespera
Yeah, most Tapastic users read the comics via phone so the format is fit to that. (^_^)
@hiisikoloart It's a really nice comic, I love the hand crafted frame and that you're playing with the frame. It's a nice biopic mood non-sequitor and I'm making my way through them! they're very eye opening.
@OliviaVespera
Thank you so much. (:
I am glad you are enjoying it. Some say they need to take breaks since there is so many and sometimes it gets a tad heavy, so...pace yourself in case it gets too much. (^_^)*
@hiisikoloart I won''t promise much, but I do write about comics on my site here and there. I'll see what my writing schedule is like.
@hpkomic
I appreciate it greatly! <3
No rush, no pressure. The comic strips will always be free in the web version, so it can wait if you have tons to do. (:

@hiisikoloart The comic world is well established in the Lemmyverse (it's where I read all mine every day). One can see all the communities for example with just searching "comic" on any Lemmy instance. https://lemmy.ca/search?q=comic&type=Communities&listingType=All

[email protected] and [email protected] are probably the two biggest, if you post in these areas I'm sure you'll get your target audience.

Search - comic - Lemmy.ca

@hiisikoloart I know @sarjuuksia prefers to read comics in physical format, but would you take a look?

@zeggo @sarjuuksia

Thank you for the recommendation - also apparently they were already following me so maybe there would be interest.

I do feel bad that I can't pay or send people copies... I haven't even bought my new author copies yet due to lacking art commissions. :(

@hiisikoloart

I can do that! How to use a free summer 🤩

@clockwooork
Do you have a blog or something you make reviews for?

I appreciate all reviews on platforms. <3

You can read the free version from Tapastic, or my Ko-fi Gallery.

Kofi (my art galleries, and supporter things, and a digital shop): https://ko-fi.com/hiisikolo_art

And if you really like the comic, you can buy it from Amazon (I cannot provide free copies, sorry) and leave a review: https://www.amazon.com/Idiopathic-HypersomNIA-Prison-Sleep-NIA/dp/9528818390

@hiisikoloart

I have a personal blog (the one linked in my bio), I don't know the exact reach of each post but somewhere in the hundreds!

@clockwooork
I can't pay for a review, but if you do one - the VOL 1 (ak.a the comics that are in the book) are the comics 1-100 in the webcomic.

I would appreciate if you left a link to the blogpost if you end up reviewing it.

And if you don't and just want to read the comic, that is fine too. (: I get not everyone has the time and energy to do that, especially for free.

@hiisikoloart oh gee. I got seriously sleep-deprived because my baby didn't sleep much for his first three years of life. I forgot words, lost about half my IQ points, and some really bad days hallucinated. It completely broke me. I might be able to relate a little. your life sounds so much worse even than that.

I really like your style. Especially how you work with type placement, style and deforming very creatively to convey feelings.

Not so sure about the brown-based color scheme, personally, but that's a question of taste. It does fit together well, it just feels a bit... bland maybe.

@lizzard
You clearly suffered greatly to take care of your child, and the fact that you can speak so kindly and with empathy to me tells me that you are an amazing parent, and your kid is lucky to have you. (:

I appreciate compliments, and the sympathy. And I hope you never need to feel that miserable again. <3

The brown theme was intentional, but I did swap it for washed light gray/white when I moved to 4-panel comics when things got better for me. (:
