We built a civilization where people need a productivity system to remember to drink water. Seems optimal.
@Daojoan and apple watches to tell them to standup.
@Daojoan darwin would be pissed
@Daojoan this is just a marketing conspiracy of bottled water corporations and office cooled drinkable water dispenser dealers...
@Daojoan they also need an app to come off addictions, on the phone they're addicted to
@Daojoan drinking water when thirsty usually does it for me.
@TheBawanehGuy @Daojoan see, that's already too late. You're supposed to drink so you don't get thirsty ¯\_(⊙_ʖ⊙)_/¯
@toldtheworld @Daojoan where do you guys get this stuff, it's only natural and healthy to drink water when needing to do so, what are we doing now? preemptive water drinking? there is no specific amount that you need to drink, all you have to do is literally wait until your body goes hey, i need water.

@TheBawanehGuy @Daojoan tribal knowledge, which is wrong as often as it is right. I did a wee bit of research right now and, at least for us older people, the advice seems to be to not trust your sense of thirst and instead rely on the colour and smell of urine. For younger people, the signal for thirst seems reliable.

The Truth About Hydration: 7 Myths and Facts

Are you confused about what—and how much—you should be drinking each day? We’ve debunked 7 common myths about hydration to shed light on this vital topic.

@toldtheworld @Daojoan If you drink something all day long, you may not trigger oxytocin as much as if you waited until your body gave you signals of thirst. Drinking too much water can dilute your stomach acid and affect your digestion. It can also flush out electrolytes and lead to low sodium levels.
I think we need to ask ourselves more often whether we’re actually thirsty or not. You may even find your stress goes down a bit if you don’t over-hydrate.

Looking at a waterhole, it is surprising that so many animals share the same space without visible signs of anxiety or aggression. Although waterholes are the preferred feeding locations of large carnivores, waterholes are shared by all type of herbivores of all sizes and shapes, including elephants …

@TheBawanehGuy @Daojoan I absolutely don't advocate for drinking too much. We're both right. Too little water is bad, and too much is bad. You wanted to know why anyone would recommend drinking before feeling thirsty, and you got an answer. I mean, this topic is a rabbit hole (there is weight management, electrolytes, and much more) and I don't want to go that deep. Don't feel obligated to change your lifestyle if it's working just fine for you.
@Daojoan We need a government that doesn't allow companies to pollute the water. Our salt conditioner broke down recently (we learned it was built in 2002). We replaced it with an expensive and good system that also reduced chlorine. The taste of the water is amazing.
@Daojoan
I’m even worse. I need one for helping me remember to breathe air. It’s a Continuous Plan for Airway Productivity.
@Daojoan I can't stop laughing. Wry observation!!
