I just posted this announcement to wikitech-l mailing list.
@brooke spud, I hope this was on your terms and you are happy with it.
@brooke Good luck with whatever you choose to do next.
@brooke I hope you know how much the community admires and appreciates everything you've given, and continue to give, to us. And I hope you won't mind if I hijack this space briefly to encourage people who *aren't* able to join WWU to instead sign the on-wiki solidarity petition with them, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:WWUS. 195 signatures and going strong! Former staff welcome in their volunteer capacities, by the way.

@brooke wtf I just learned about all this shit and holy damn ugh

You're a legend fwiw and πŸ’œ

@brooke Gonna be interesting next time #Wikipedia does their funding drive. I will be tempering my gratitude accordingly.
@brooke you are a rock star.
@brooke I've been speechless about this all day. I've been in awe of your work for as long as I can remember, and I know you'll do more and better work in the future, but, I could not imagine doing this to you. I know you'll be ok, but I'm upset.
@brooke signed the editors support call to action. Thanks for all your years of service!
@brooke proud of you and so freaking cool to leave with a pro-union mic drop when management is trying to union bust! Rockstar stuff! 🎸πŸ’₯✨
@brooke Oh no! Sorry to hear that!
@brooke Thank you for your amazing work over the years! I hope your departure was amicable. The WMF is losing a huge asset, but I'm glad to hear you'll still be helping out as a volunteer.

@brooke πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Really sorry to hear this! I hope you’re able to feel re-energized whilst taking a break from things.

@brooke This makes me very sad. :-(

I really hope you get some time to breathe and take it easy. And if there’s anything I can do to help, shout.

@brooke Sorry to hear about your job being terminated at WMF.
@brooke I've been fuming since I heard about this a few days ago. As a fellow member of the 2001 cohort (though with a very long wikibreak) I went looking for old correspondence and found a message on my #Esperanto talk page. Multan dankon for your decades of service! (My Esperanto is very rusty.)
@brooke ugh, this is poop. stinky poop
@brooke Thank you for all that you've done, and for this great message. Good luck πŸ’—

@brooke

This sucks and I hope they fire the CEO and rehire you.

@brooke I'm not sure how I missed this. I'm sorry. πŸ˜’
@brooke You are a legend and I am so angry about what I've heard of this whole situation. I'll save the worst of my vitriol for my own feed as I imagine this must be a difficult time for you, but I will say that I joined the Wikimedia community about a year after you did and although I'm not always the most active, it's always been a point of pride. I think the community has your and your colleagues' backs. I signed the solidarity petition and I'm trying to get the word out. If the WMF thinks this will all blow over they've got another thing coming. Anyway, thank you so much for your decades of service, you're a true champion if you're willing to continue on as a volunteer, that's real passion.
@brooke love and solidarity πŸ’œβœŠ
@brooke I don’t know you but I’ve benefited from your work and I think you
@brooke β€œthank you”, sorry
@brooke should I threaten to stop my donations? Is there anyway we could get this suggestion out to other donors? Thank you for everything xx
@brooke Sounds like you are (at least somewhat) okay. Good!
