I own way too many clicky keyboards. I love relaxing in hammock chairs and I have deeply obscure Simpsons references for every situation.

the biggest "this is so stupid I can't believe it works" kind of thing are the prompts that code review tools feed into the AI.

The prompts literally instruct the LLM to role play like a series of different personas, each looking for different things in the code.

The stupidest thing is that these prompts actually work! The LLMs give better feedback this way.

I'm impressed with the kinds of things we can get this generation of LLMs to do but it's so weird that all these new modes of operation just involve stacking on more natural language prompt text.

As a software developer I'd expect there to be some kind of lower-level API that you'd use to direct the model's behavior but doesn't work like that; it's just one big black box of LLM and we're just trying to carefully construct a premise in which it will respond with the right thing.

Counterpoint: maybe Microsoft is having such poor results because they had an absolute gift fall on their lap with OpenAI but they have absolutely no sense for how to make a good product so they shoved AI into everything regardless of suitability, swiped the Copilot brand from GitHub and stripped it of all meaning by calling everything Copilot, then hoped they could overcome the product shittiness with their sales force and surprise surprise, that didn’t actually work.

Even if you approach this whole thing from the assumption that Ruby Central acted 100% in good faith and in the best interest in the community, this does not fucking read like RC is being honest and transparent.

Every step of the way RC erred on the side of vagueness and bullshit corporate speak instead of just speaking candidly about what they’re doing.

They have damaged Ruby and I hope new board members cycling in start slowly rebuilding trust with the community.

A Message from the Ruby Central Board

Over the past several months, there has been significant discussion, disagreement, and concern about RubyGems, Bundler, and Ruby Central’s role in stewarding RubyGems and supporting the Ruby ecosystem. Because this matter has involved ongoing legal discussions, we have been limited in what we could say publicly. Our priority has

Creating a wealth tax alone doesn’t necessarily solve all our problems (it raises a decent chunk of $$$ but it’s not amazing).

The real power is if we invest those dollars in people, because then people will spend it on things and supercharge the economy in a real way.

Every dollar in a billionaire’s net worth cost the rest of us a lot more than a dollar to let them have that.

As wealth taxes gain traction, Warren proposes levy on the ultra-rich

Sen. Elizabeth Warren's bill would raise taxes on households worth more than $50 million and on billionaires.

End of an era. I did treat my 2019 Mac Pro to some wheels a couple weeks ago since they were on clearance on Woot.

I’m hoping to get Anwar a little more support here. If you’re a US citizen you’ve already spent plenty of your tax dollars giving Israel money to destroy his home country, why not kick a few extra bucks a week/month to help him take care of his family?

Also he is verified on @gazaverified so you can give with confidence.

I had afternoon tea at Sketch today and their bathroom is something to behold. I wore the perfect shirt
Do you think a major feature of watchOS 27 will be that pushing the “play” button on a Workout actually starts the workout, or do you think Apple is going to hold that back for watchOS 28?
