Dear Linux newbie, remember:

- It doesn't really matter what distro you install as long as it runs the software you really use
- There's no better distro, all are just different approaches (and most are actually forks)
- Whatever aesthetic feature (like a desktop environment, apps) you're basing decisions on, you can change it or tweak it later anyway
- Customizing stuff isn't mandatory, you can go with the defaults and still be a chad, chill
- Learn some Bash, watch some tutorials, try it on a VM. Don't just blame the OS every time

And remember: there's nothing wrong with asking for help or learning stuff. At least you don't need to pay for a subscription 🤷🏻‍♀

(If you ever wanna do that, just donate to the projects you like, not to a corporation 🎩)

@soberaim ... and finally: Depending on your smartphone usage, it might be completely pointless to spend a lot of effort into a #Linux migration. If your digital life is mostly happening inside some Meta walled gardens (incl. WA of course!!), or MS, TikTok, Google, YT, ..., ..., then don't waste your time and others' time with that stupid greenwashing show!! Windows/macOS is perfectly fine for you and far away from being your most severe digital problem!! You can even leave Recall just enabled!!

@pino okay I'm glad you have your own opinion, a quite reasonable one.

Yet, I'm not telling people to install Linux (tho I like to recommend it) but addressing ideas that spread division in the Linux ecosystem (oriented to those who've already chosen to give it a try).

I didn't mention smartphones, mainstream software, etc. So your comment is off topic but thanks for interacting. 👍🏻

@soberaim You list various kinds of advices for linux newbies. So, no, it was not really off-topic. Maybe inconvenient. But that's a different thing.
@pino I get your point but it's unrelated dear. I won't disencourage people. If u don't wanna use it that's fine. Have a good one 👍🏻
@soberaim You: "Please keep my bubble clean and don't point to inconvenient contradictions. Things don't have to make sense, as long as they are ridiculously positive." :D
@soberaim
The most noobies have no idea what "distro" is. :P
@hiisikoloart well it's one of the most repeated words on those popular "tier list" videos and tutorials, etc on Internet 😅 even if they don't deeply understand them and see 'em as "versions" or "flavors" of Linux, the tips work. 👍
