How it feels to be alive lately.

@Alejandro_P @Natasha_Jay

If you ask me I would say it's just a matter of time.

@Natasha_Jay Have you heard about the " cost of living"? It's not framed like that by chance...
@dacig @Natasha_Jay the problem isn't the cost of living. It's the rich paying governments to build a situation where they can skim off an ever-increasing percentage along the way.
@Bern @Natasha_Jay You mean the rich pay politicians to build the skimming situation? Paying governments is called taxes, and that the rich won't do.
My point is about framing life as something with a price tag on it,

@dacig Nah, I mean paying *politicians* to write laws or privatise public assets so that when people pay their (unavoidable) cost of living, the rich take a cut. They levy a 'rent tax', as the economists call it - skim a percentage off the top of other economic activity. It does nothing productive, but does make some people very rich for no effort at all. If they can wrangle it, they can get the politicians to exempt that kind of income from having to pay taxes, in one way or another, so they get to have their cake and eat ours too!

I interpreted the comic to be referring to the increasing prevalence of rent taxes, rather than the cost of living per se.

Your point about life having unavoidable costs is certainly valid, though.

@Natasha_Jay Every exception to the law of entropy requires energy. No matter where you look.
@Natasha_Jay Anyone who has sat on the lawn chairs at Regent's Park will know this intimately.

@Natasha_Jay reality is surreal, reason is just magical thinking. Face it!
@Natasha_Jay I think they will come up with a breathed air measuring device soon to determine how many litres of air you have consumed and bill you accordinglyโ€ฆ
