Oh, from what I'm reading it's 'better' than that. A substantial percentage of the prospective players from certain countries likely wouldn't make it past immigration now, and that implies that their supporters and followers wouldn't either. Who would risk an ICE camp just to go watch some bloody soccer, when the games that do take place will be on TV anyway?

Fuck it. I've not seen any NFL for two years, because US political wank, and now there's another sports competition I shall be avoiding this year. Sports kids: start watching good Rugby - almost no American team would be brave enough to play that without 60lb of protective kit on their backs.

Citizens from some of the countries in the World Cup are either banned entirely from entering the US (Haiti, Iran, Senegal and Ivory Coast) or subject to a $15,000 bond to get a visa to enter the US (Algeria, Cape Verde, Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Senegal - yes Senegal and Ivory Coast citizens are both banned but also subject to a $15.000 bond πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ).

@blogdiva similar here in Seattle where we are hosting some games as well.

I was initially excited about having some WC games here. But after ice/trump I think encouraging folks to stay away is the right call.
