I recommend watching this full speech from #NZGreens co-leader Marama Davidson speaking at the Oxford Union Debate opposing the notion that the sun should have never set on the British Empire.

It’s particularly relevant to the current #NZPol coalition government’s attempts to disenfranchise the #indigenous #Māori and founding document of #Aotearoa #NewZealand te tiriti o Waitangi.

Green Party Co-leader Marama Davidson: The sun must set on the British Empire (Full Oxford Debate)

YouTube

@jeremy_pm Thought it might be on RNZ page? Nope

But anyway, what an excellent speaker and speech 💚

@ClareBear

Inexplicably, main stream media appears to have developed an allergy to greens.

@jeremy_pm a real mystery

also..was don brash there?

@ClareBear

Apparently, and going by Marama’s comments appears to have some how been placed on the same debate side as Marama, opposing the premise that the sun should have never set on the British empire.

@jeremy_pm I meant to say thanks for sharing this. Got very distracted trying to find when it happened, turns out it was six months ago! Not sure why they didn't mention that. (There's a post on FB from the New Zealand Society that mentioned it.)
@ClareBear
@v_for_verbosity @jeremy_pm oh I didn’t realise that either. Anyway shared far and wide 💚

@ClareBear @v_for_verbosity

Yes, I had never even heard of Marama Davidson appearing at the Oxford Union debate despite having David Seymour’s appearance at the debate being headline news for days last year in #NZMedia.

The video was only posted by #NZGreens on YT the other day. It popped up on my timeline and I think I was the first to view it.

We really need to pressure our media into being a little less partisan in their #NZPol reporting.

@jeremy_pm @ClareBear Brash's performance at the same debate appears to have been widely publicised by him and his followers at the time, but not as far as I can tell by the actual media. (I don't recommend reading or watching it, it's somewhat rage inducing.)

@v_for_verbosity @ClareBear

Thanks, I will certainly avoid any brash decisions.
