‘The cost of compute is far beyond the costs of the employees’: Nvidia executive says right now AI is more expensive than paying human workers

Big Tech has announced $740 billion in capex this year, but AI has yet to show evidence of widespread increased productivity.

@smeg you'd think the bros would be all in on lobbying for cheap renewables, yet somehow they're not.

The fossil fuel industry funds AI.

Why? AI data centers burn lots of fossil fuel.

It is the most corrupt industry on the planet doing all it can to increase wasteful fossil fuel energy usage.

Trump told the industry that if it gave him a billion dollars, he'd help it destroy the planet.

Data centers is one of the methods.

Est-ce que c'est 1 indice de résultats bof ?
@smeg well done everybody

@smeg Maybe we should listen to the scientists instead of the CEOs advertising their products.

@ralph @smeg was one of my favorite recent talks on LLMs, validated my understanding and own reading on the topic.

@ralph @smeg

AI technology has been developed by commercial corporate craps ,for commercial corporate interests.

Stolen data for training models and then utilized for biased design algorithms.

@yuhasz01 @smeg In a way I think you are right. But in another way I think you are wrong. LeCun, Woodridge, Schmidhuber and others are very different from what you describe.

@ralph @smeg
Yes you are correct.

Moral scientists develope LLM models and deep learning science research .

However corporate craps exploit their work like they did to the email, the web, etc....use various technologies to develop a surveillance economy and fascist political state.

@yuhasz01 @smeg This is not, what I meant. I am more talking about the limitation of Markov Chains and Sigmoid Functions.

@smeg

That seems insanely frank on the part of an Nvidia executive.

Puzzled.

@smeg That sounds like good news...
