Gen Z does things.

"In North America, an estimated 57 to 61 per cent of Gen Z and millennials identify as readers, averaging 3.5 to 4.5 books per year, with a preference for physical books. Younger readers are also more likely to purchase books in a bookstore and be active library users, which is notable in an era dominated by digital media."

Unacceptable.

These incompetent bastard's can't negotiate anything great!

"The company didn’t help its case when Microsoft France’s director of public and legal affairs told the French Senate under oath in June that it ā€œcannot guaranteeā€ it would be able to deny requests from the Trump administration for data stored on its servers within the European Union."

As Blanche Leridon argues, the ousting of Viktor OrbƔn in Hungary is not the end of the story, but rather merely marks the start of a long process of reconstructing the rule of law in Hungary - the problem is (as always) authoritarianism takes time to reverse (leading to frustration among voters who voted for 'change'), not least as this who benefitted often will not go quietly nor quickly.

Like the Polish, Hungarians will need luck & patience!

Hungary beware: authoritarianism can be checked, but it is rarely dismissed with a single blow

Poland has shown that it takes far more time and energy to rebuild a country’s rule of law than it does to dismantle it, says Blanche Leridon, director of French studies at Institut Montaigne

This piece by @pluralistic - thrillingly revolutionary as ever - has an honorable mention of my homecountry that made me smile: ā€œHe doesn't need tanks to steal Greenland. He can just shut off Denmark's access to American platforms like Office365, iOS and Android and brick the whole damned country. It would be another Strait of Hormuz, but instead of oil and fertilizer, he'd control the flow of Lego, Ozempic and deliciously strong black licoriceā€

Why is Mastodon the best social medium in 2026?

Picture 1: If I share a post with some objectively good news, it gets 97 boosts and 140 likes.

Picture 2: If I share the same post on Threads, it gets zero interactions — zero! — because it contains a link to the competing social medium YouTube, and on Threads, Mark Zuckerberg has decided that the algorithm should not promote such content.

Threads is where the rich decide what we can talk about.

On Mastodon, we decide.
