A bus stop in Trzebież, Poland kept getting destroyed by vandals.
Local mayor installed a punching bag next to it.
Vandalism stopped completely.

“You can always catch the next bus”, a sign in the window of a used bookstore at a bus stop
Also they posted the schedule, pre-smartphones, very helpful
@clew @pmdj @elricofmelnibone @rolf "Also they posted the schedule, pre-smartphones, very helpful"
Is this not standard? Here in Austria *every* public transport stop has physical timetables which show the schedule + how long it takes to all the stations on the line.
Our system tries — a small picture-frame affixed to each bus stop pole, with the relevant timetable in it. Trying to remember why storefronts also posted them!
The poles do get vandalized, and the timetables are in small type and not always easy to read by streetlight. ??
Embarrassing: the realtime-updates phone app is so good that I can’t remember if my nearest bus poles have paper schedules.
This is not the exakt same location as in the picture above ...
But maybe you did not want to the same place.

Attached: 1 image @rolf Structure from which a punch bag was suspended, as reported in 2017, but recent StreetView image shows punch bag has been removed. Let’s hope only removed for maintenance! https://epoznan.pl/news-news-79903-wandale_dewastowali_przystanek_autobusowy_soltys_zainstalowala_obok_worek_bokserski
depressing... men (i doubt any women involved) are soooo.... dump
@rolf Call me a cynic but I'm actually quite surprised. I'd always assumed that vandalism was a result of nihilism brought on by frustration. I would have expected vandals to need to BREAK something, not just punch it.
Perhaps I underestimated people.
In case someone needs a translation - the post is described as Dutch 🙂🙃🙂
