Can stock #Firefox match #LibreWolf levels? Yes, with the right tweaks! 🛡️

Tested on #BashCoreGee: added uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, and enabled Strict Privacy + Quad9 DoH. Result? #PiHole is now silent! 🤐

uBlock stops threats at the source (Layer 7), so packets never even reach the gateway. This is Layered Defense: Pi-Gateway + VPN + Hardened Browser.

Gee keeps Firefox stock for user choice, but the tools to harden it are right there.

@nickbearded it is really the only reasonable way to go, the civilized way, plus you get lots of log info, no dns leaks (which is a good selling point) I'd like to see you align with an os so people get a good experience - maybe so a mini and a maxi damn small linux and kali everything versions #bash core overhead #network stack #make menuconfig
@gary_alderson Thanks for the comment! I didn’t know about FreedomBox before, but I took a look and it’s definitely an interesting project!
@nickbearded 10-4 - you may like it, has the right sw philosophy but exactly how much different from debian it actually is will leave it up to you, i have to revisit it, if nvme prices ever drop i will jump back on that train. I like that you are chaining together the best apps, this it great for newbies but also smb sector
@gary_alderson Thanks again!
I saw there’s even an image for Raspberry Pi 4, so I will give it a try.
How about you? What have you been working on lately?
@nickbearded I am planning and plotting - the nvme based product line but then maybe systems for smb, also just genl low hanging consulting fruit - advertising is the main way, the mkt is huge. I have done some web footwork, that has helped, one day at a time for me. I think genl mkt conditions should improve gradually, high prices boost the refurb mkt #pablo
@gary_alderson Haha, Picasso fits perfectly 😄 sounds like you’ve got a lot of ideas in motion 💪🏻
That NVMe + SMB direction makes sense, especially with the refurb market growing, interesting timing.
I actually started looking into FreedomBox after your comment… and yeah, it’s not as straightforward as I expected 😅 definitely need to dig deeper into it.
What kind of NVMe setup are you thinking about?
@nickbearded basically selling hardened debian and also another hook is for road warriors who want/need enc files, the main concept is to be able to have setups with functional lamp stack and stuff like that, reproducible builds, ansible scripts possibly; I have the formative idea and concept but i haven't sat down for a week and actually worked on it. one semi related tangent out there - try a bunch of bootable iso and only a few will install gpu drivers correctly. I will get around to making it more official and legit, i need to build a couple of sites, a local break fix site and then a more national site for random tech consulting - mostly debian/opnsense/malcolm. that is what is going on in a nutshell. I though ai was supposed to make things cheaper, instead it did the exact opposite so until nvme gets cheap again mkt is suppressed - factual

@gary_alderson Love the vision, Gary! Hardened Debian is exactly what we need right now 🛡️

I agree on the GPU driver pain, that's why I keep BashCoreGee as clean as possible. Focusing on a solid foundation first. Interesting take on the AI/NVMe market squeeze, it’s definitely changing the game for local builds.

Good luck with the OPNsense/Malcolm consulting site, sounds like a powerhouse setup! Let’s keep pushing for privacy-first distros. Cheers!
