Il Fatto Quotidiano: Ungheria, Ilaria Salis festeggia la sconfitta di Orbán: “Arrivederci per sempre”

Una foto sorridente su Instagram e il cartello “Goodbye forver, Mr Orbán”. Così Ilaria Salis, eurodeputata di Avs, ha festeggiato la sconfitta del leader sovranista alle elezioni della scorsa domenica. La parlamentare e attivista è stata detenuta per 15 mesi in Ungheria con l’accusa di aver aggredito alcuni militanti di estrema destra ed è tornata libera grazie all’elezione a Bruxelles.
“Non una vittoria della sinistra, ma almeno una pesantissima sconfitta dell’estrema destra globale e – speriamo – la fine del regime”, si legge nel suo post pubblica su Instagra. “L’Ungheria e l’Europa saranno posti migliori senza Orbán. Spiace per Meloni e Salvini. A mai più rivederci”. Intervistata poi a “L’aria che tira” su La7, ha aggiunto: “Un cambio di governo non significa immediatamente ripristinare, in Ungheria, le istituzioni democratiche. Per fare questo serve una maggioranza assoluta che Magyar ha ottenuto ma serve anche costanza e volontà politica perché Orbán quando ha avuto lui la maggioranza assoluta in Parlamento ha disarticolato quello la divisione dei poteri e distrutto quella che era l’architettura democratica del paese. Quindi questo deve essere ricostruito da capo”. A chi, in riferimento alla sua vicenda giudiziaria in Ungheria, le chiede se oggi si sentirebbe sicura, risponde: “Oggi come oggi no. Credo ci vogliano degli anni. Tra l’altro la notizia della settimana scorsa è che le autorità ungheresi hanno deciso di porre termine al procedimento penale a mio carico, quindi non è neanche qualcosa che è sul sul piatto al momento, ma c’è anche tutta un’eredità di forte politicizzazione del processo a mio carico, messa in atto dal governo di Orbán, che è penetrata profondamente all’interno dell’opinione pubblica”.

A smiling photo on Instagram and the sign “Goodbye forever, Mr. Orbán.” That’s what Ilaria Salis, an MEP from Avs, celebrated the defeat of the nationalist leader at last Sunday’s elections. The parliamentarian and activist was held in Hungary for 15 months on charges of having assaulted several far-right militants and returned free thanks to her election in Brussels.

“Not a victory for the left, but at least a very heavy defeat of global far-right – and – we hope – the end of the regime,” reads her public post on Instagram. “Hungary and Europe will be better places without Orbán. It’s a pity for Meloni and Salvini. Never to see each other again.” Interviewed later on “L’aria che tira” on La7, she added: “A change of government doesn’t immediately restore, in Hungary, democratic institutions. To do this, you need an absolute majority that Magyar obtained, but it also requires constancy and political will because when Orbán had the absolute majority in Parliament, he dismantled it, the division of powers, and destroyed what was the country’s democratic architecture. So this must be rebuilt from scratch.” When asked, in reference to her legal case in Hungary, whether she would feel safe today, she replied: “Today as it is today, no. I think it will take years. Incidentally, the news from last week is that Hungarian authorities have decided to drop the criminal proceedings against me, so it’s not even something that’s on the table at the moment, but there is also a whole legacy of the strong politicization of the process against me, carried out by the Orbán government, which has penetrated deeply into public opinion.”
