Oil prices rise after Trump threatens to block passage through Strait of Hormuz

Oil prices topped $100 a barrel again on Sunday after President Donald Trump said the US would blockade “any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz,” threatening to further disrupt oil flows.

#Oil #prices remain lower than their recent highs reached last week before #Trump called off his threat of mass devastation in #Iran & agreed to #ceasefire discussions.

But with a failure to reach a lasting ceasefire agreement & the clock ticking down to yet another deadline, oil prices are now trading higher than where they settled on April 1. That was just before Trump’s disastrous primetime address in which he failed to detail an exit strategy for the #war.

#Iran has benefited financially from the #war, charing up to $2 million per ship in tolls for passage through the crucial strait. #Trump similarly floated the idea of tolls last week as a “joint venture” with Iran [#WarProfiteering].

The country has also managed to export an average of 1.85 million barrels of crude a day through March — about 100,000 barrels a day more than in the previous 3 months, according to data and analytics firm Kpler.

Trump’s plan risks costing Americans more: If #oil #prices climb higher, #GasPrices will remain elevated. A gallon of #gas in the #US cost $4.12 on average Sunday, up 38% from the start of the #war despite declining slightly over the weekend.

I hope everyone is planting some food in their backyard, or their neighbors backyard, or in a field, or the woods... or a ditch that doesn't get mowed.

Dandelions are edible, and make a decent addition to salads. They grow pretty quick, and their seeds do a great job of spreading themselves. They also make a nice taproot which does good things for the soil.

Bonus points for planting trees and edible mushrooms.

The more we reforest this planet, the better.

@Nonilex Those American ships hanging out in the Straits as a threat to everyone else are going to be massive, slow moving targets for drones above and below water…. Is the USA ready for a lot of dead navy & military? That’s surely going to be the result of this insanity. But #Trump won’t care if messing with the markets puts more money in his bank accounts: after all dead military are ‘suckers and losers’ in his book.

It’s a grift for oil profits, and he’s using our soldiers as toys, because nothing is real to him, and he’s being puppeted like Bernie at weekend at Bernie’s.

If him posting a rant about Da Pope and then posting himself as Jesus healing Epstein isn’t enough for the gop to finally 25th him out, then nothing will and we should bunker down and wait for the end. Cause we’re all gonna die if we can’t stop him and his puppeteers.

@Nonilex Don’t forget an important bit, which is that Iran is taking payments in Yuan, not dollars. It is a strategic strike at the power of the petrodollar. If petrodollar is replaced by petroyuan, the USA population is in for a very bad ride.
