Viktor Orbán passed a law labeling gay people as pedophiles. He banned Budapest Pride and made it a criminal offense to attend with €500 fines organizers facing prison time. And when people showed up anyway, he let police use facial recognition to hunt them down at the parade.

Millions of Hungarians stood in lines for hours to say they've had enough.

I pray we are inspired by them. #USPolitics

@SharonCrockett @gedeonm Someone just posted that the new guy isn’t very pro gay rights, so it’s not going to be perfect, but it will be better for Europe and Hungary overall. One thing at a time.

Given who replaced him, I doubt it. It'll be a longer struggle. It seems like the biggest difference between Orban and Magyar is their stance on Russia, not immigration or queer rights.

@JPZ yes I was totally expecting this too, but astoundingly he’s conceited the election. I don’t really understand it. Some others here have said he had no choice because he fears for his safety if he contested it.
