We frame any exercise in speculative future thinking as #sciencefiction because we have swept any philosophical, anthropological, or artistic traces from the educational landscape and from the minds of future adults. The genre of " #philosophiction " doesn't exist in a world where art and literature are products of technocracy and engineering.
@harriorrihar " #Philosofiction " is a nice coinage! #Phifi works may not be recognized as a separate genre, but surely they are written (and read): #Borges, #LeGuin, #Delany, #Atwood, #SusannaClarke, #TedChiang, #RFKuang, …

All #Sci-Fi is actually #Phi-Fi, despite the fact that philosophy and arts have less and less space. It's difficult to say the word "future" without thinking about technology.

@harriorrihar @confluency For me, the best science fiction has always used the freedom of the genre to explore ideas in philosophy, sociology and anthropology.

It's about our relationships to each other and our environments.

Art becomes reality because reality imitates art. The sad thing is that we (meaning those with the reins and the pessimistic majority) feel the need to take all the negative possibilities of the future and combine them into one big monstrosity. All while simultaneously pretending things will work out for the best somehow.
