Met a celebrity in #HongKong a couple weeks ago. 🐶☁️ Me and Gary, a sentient cotton ball / 12.5-year-old Bichon Frisé I've been following for the past three years, seaside in Tseung Kwan O.

Some background (and a heads up if you're a fellow Cantonese speaker): In winter 2022 my mom randomly came across a website where you can stream *tons* of TVB programs (including the

#Dog #Dogs #DogsOfMastodon #Outdoors #Sun #Portrait #PortraitPhotography #Photos #Photography #TravelPhotography #Travel

the classics) for free, aptly called TVB Anywhere. (The drama section goes all the way back to the 70s! There's even 鹿鼎記 (1984), starring Andy Lau and Tony Leung when they were young! https://tvbanywherena.com/cantonese In the mid 80s, in my parents' first few years of marriage before I was born, every evening after work they'd get ice cream and go to my mom's parents' house and watch rented videotapes of that drama. <3)

Then, in summer 2023, my mom found a reality show on the site called #HongKong Super

#Pet Model Contest, with so many cute HK doggies. Naturally, we watched, and it was especially fun since episodes were actually airing/dropping as we did. Gary was one of the contestants. He didn't win, but he won our hearts, d'awww.

Fast forward to this spring, and he posted about CR Longdation's Cross Bay Run and Carnival, a #community event where there'd also be a pet show / Easter-themed costume competition for #dogs; this happened to coincide with my annual #HongKong trip for Art Basel. So

we went, and as soon as we reached the dog area, I spotted/recognized him immediately. 😂 You can't miss him; he's huge for his breed and so, so round. We flagged down his mom who was gracious enough to let me take #photos with him (and was even the one taking photos at first—pictures here). The above photos (by my mom) are actually the last ones in the sequence; it was ridiculously hot and sunny hence my getting progressively sweatier and sweatier with each #photo (I felt bad for Gary with his

glorious coat) and both of us struggling to squint at the camera. Luckily his mom had sunglasses for him on hand. 😎

So happy I got to meet you, Gary!
