we're all living with a violent abusive stepdad
this is the climate of terror and uncertainty that my mother lived in when she was a child. threats and violent outbursts, confusing ultimatums, insane reactions, rules changing all the time.

@lzg

The Repubs even played up the "Daddy's home" theme (as in now there will be discipline/vengeance).

But he's the kind of abusive Daddy you describe.

@donray @lzg I've long thought that a couple of his kids looked a little too wary when speaking in public, as in say the wrong thing, and you will suffer for it when daddy gets you in private.
@lzg this is how I lived as a child, with my abusive mother
@lzg It’s consistent with how Susie Wiles described him as having an “alcoholic-like” personality. Meaning, an abusive, disordered, abusive and often mean-spirited personality.
@lzg Having also lived through this as a child, you're a hundred per cent correct.
@lzg exactly my thought. "Arbitrary" trait in Europe Universalis comes to mind.

@lzg great minds think alike. me, nine minutes ago:

@lzg he just wants whats best for us /s
@lzg Indeed, some of us are living with him, and he's not even our step-dad.
@lzg The main difference being that kids don’t get any say in who their stepdad is.
@lzg agreed 100%. And we're all getting CPTSD.
@lzg But we had to go live with him because we decided Mom was a bitch.

@lzg

Very eloquently said.

I was really thinking this moron in power really reminded me of my own family member, I also remember when he died I found the art of the deal in his book collection.

First edition that went in the rubbish bin back in the 90s!

I always f*ckin hated bullies and manipulators - such weak people, but unfortunately they attract other weak people who put them in power.
