Okay, so after using Cosmic full-time for like 3 months via Pop_OS!

  • This is a beta product that should not have been released as an LTS
  • This has great potential, 6-24months from now.
  • This does not have remotely the community engagement necessary for it's ecosystem to function as intended (like Gnome or KDE does)

#gnome #kde #linux #tech #popos #cosmic

After finally getting to a point of no graphics glitches in the DE and no annoying bugs like bluetooth connectivity / correct audio device being selected after yeaaaaaaars.

Cosmic came along and reset it all 🙃

I want the MacOS layout and I want it to work. That's my DE requirements, now stop messiiiinggggg with iiiiitttttt pop pleaaaaaase

@iamada

Well, it's a corpo product made because they hated the community xD

@tragivictoria not sure how an open source product from a barely mid-size company with a history of FOSS-positive behaviours translates into it being a corpo product?

It’s just feels like an undercooked beta product that’d be better released in 2-3 years with the next LTS, not as a default with wayland today 🙃

@iamada is publicly harassing volunteers on twitter a positive behaviour?

@iamada

not as a default with wayland today

And yet GNOME and KDE are fine

@tragivictoria and that makes it okay to harass those who don't stalk their shitter? Like, why are you bringing that toxicity here and to me?

@iamada you literally posted on a couple of tags so I'm just interacting with you. And in this case you said something that is very untrue.

If you think it's toxic to say that they aren't as positive… idc. My friends were publicly harassed by System76 employees, one of them being Jeremy Soller on his public twitter, and they never apologised. They also threw loads of shit and missinfo at us.

@tragivictoria What have I said that is untrue?

@tragivictoria actually nvm, i'm done interacting with this circlejerk reply-guy-esque bullshit.

Fuckoff and don't come again :)

@iamada I'm glad that my friend stuck with Linux after his first distro choice was Pop_OS with Cosmic. His breaking point was the lack of a night light/red shift feature and several bluetooth things not working. Fortunately he gave Linux another try with Nobara (KDE) and now he stuck with it.
well that's that happens if you touch unfinished software, you get bugs and missing features
@mateusz6768 so it’s my fault they put this into an LTS? Or what are you trying to say here?
They essentially put unfinished software into a LTS and making it as if it was stable, that's not how you do software development
@mateusz6768 Just for some alternative context..I’ve been happily using Cosmic for months and with no major issues. If you’re expecting Mac levels of polish, probably best to use a Mac.
