Another example of just how stunning #gnome has become over the last couple years. Rewaita enables transparency, and Gnome Web makes amazing use of it.
Just ordered the #jolla phone. I've longed for a high quality Linux phone for ages, and hopefully this is it. Imagine being able to build and load any app.. well, that's the vision. That's actually above the privacy angle for me.
Gotta' say that #gnome 50 looks absolutely stunning, especially when themed with #rewaita. IMHO—and I know this has been kicked around the park forever—this theming should be built into Gnome. It's pretty consistent, at least across apps using Libwaita, which seems to be most apps.
There's so much (understandable) pushback against AI. I've been a sceptic too, but over the last few months I've become steadily more dependent on it. It can be incredibly empowering, especially for working through ideas, building solutions and so on. It feels like a super-power. I'm on a trial plan with Perplexity (which includes all sources) and I'll definitely pay to renew when it expires.
It took about 30 seconds to make the decision to buy the Pi 500+. Plus doesn't do justice to the leap from the previous version – It looks stunning! SSD inclusion is great, but a Gateron mechanical keyboard too? Raspberry Pi are fast replacing Apple in the joy stakes.
Seems that the only way that I kill Linux servers is by misconfiguring sudo so that root becomes impossible. Nothing else! Single user mode used to be the solution but that doesn't seem to work any more. Sigh..
The new library view of snapseed edits when launching the app is also very welcome 👍
omg! #Snapseed is being brought back to life! Google have finally noticed that they already owned the best photo editor on mobile. So far updates are only on iOS, and the changes look pretty sweeping. Nice to see an option to include exif data in the export. Here's hoping #Android is going to see these updates too.
First break of 2025 and after a tiring battle with Eurostar delays, we made it to #Marseille around midnight last night. The weather is scorching but we're intrepidly exploring on foot. This city has a beautifully faded glory.
Vertical tabs in Firefox with grouping and so on is probably my favorite ff UI change in a very long time. I so wish that Gnome Web (#epiphany) included the same feature, bacause fact is, I'd rather not use firefox simply because of where its core funding comes from.
