Famous quotes from NASA mission comms:
- Apollo 11: "The Eagle has landed"
- Apollo 13: "Houston, we have a problem"
- Artemis 2: "We are still updating Outlook so everything but email is go"

My partner: Just the other day, we thought "Wow, they're up there with the same technology as us! ๐Ÿ˜€" ...now we're all "Wow, they're up there with the same technology as us? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ"

@Daveography Ha exactly, they were troubleshooting issues with their GoPros too. So weird to see them just using regular consumer tech, but I guess it makes sense for some things rather than developing specialized hardware and software in house.
@Daveography Also it really struck me how addicted to smartphones we are a species when I saw that they designed a special smartphone pocket in their space suits.
@faden Also Artemis 2: "Shitter's clogged."
@faden for years and years Microsoft was stating in their EULA not to use their software for mission critical systems. Did they remove it? Or is Nasa violating terms of service?
@Reinald @faden It's just email - nothing mission critical
@roomaroo @faden maybe I am naive there, but I would consider everything on a spacecraft as mission critical. Including every communication channel.
@Reinald @roomaroo @faden pretty sure their tooth brushes are not mission critical ;)
@roomaroo @Reinald @faden the tablet of the astronaut that was on screen during the launch was running Windows, so....

I think that's a perfect summary of the whole endeavour.

@faden
Is that .... real???

@fedithom

It is! 2 outlook installs were broken on this mission and i think they remotely accessed the onboard systems to fix them.
