Trump has announced that Tuesday morning, The United States will commit multiple war crimes by extensively bombing civilian infrastructure in Iran.

For a reaction from Canadian and European politicians we now go live to a gravel road on the countryside:

@randahl Like with Israel, we support USA's right to defend itself!
@Gjoel … against any threat Trump imagines on a random day.
@randahl Isn't that the oath of the military? "I will defend the president from all enemies, foreign and imagined".
@Mark Gjøl I thought the military was there to defend the country, tbh 🤔

Back in the days there was an army for which the oath was changed from protecting the country, to blindly following the leader's orders.

He already had a large private army to defend himself btw.

Any idea which leader I'm talking about?

@Randahl Fink

@randahl I am sure Canada will be first in line to make a mealymouthed public comment and then use back channels to purchase American military hardware with the funds we freed up by selling out social services.

It's the Canadian way.

@randahl Can it be stopped? Or What is gonna follow? Answers to come 👽

@randahl

I believe that if the U.S. commits war crimes—assuming it hasn’t already done so—NATO members should be able to withdraw from NATO. As a European citizen, I cannot accept the fact that a barbarian is supposed to ensure our so-called security. If their standards and values are no longer our own, then it is time to establish a European treaty organization.

@bitchboss Why would you withdraw from Nato rather than expelling the US?
@Marcella Francesca :verified: Not sure if we should abandon NATO, it is explicitly only to defend us and that's good. But we know now that the US is basically out, we can't trust them anymore even though the orange idiot hasn't formally withdrawn.

NATO has de facto lost the US as a partner, time for the remaining countries to deal with the new reality. I have advocated the creation of a European army for years, but unfortunately that idea has been taboo until now.

The idea behind NATO is still very much alive, but now that it's clear the the US has become a mole, we should treat it accordingly.

@Randahl Fink
@randahl
That symbolises the Wild West and concomitant earlier genocides, yes?
@randahl Let's see. Maybe it's just another bigmouth attack with not much following.
But I do see too little effort to become indepentdent of the US.

@randahl

Every country needs a "Trump Spewing Bullshit, Evil and Lies" department with three shifts.

@randahl
Even the tumble weeds… know whats up ! Figures 🙄

😄

@randahl

They're in a dilemma: in order to object to the announcement of forthcoming war crimes, they would also have to acknowledge that the leader of the US is mentally ill - and that would harm diplomatic relations.

@randahl how many war crimes and terrorist assisted crimes has this Iranian Islamic regime committed? What is there human rights records with regard to their own people? Please, tell me, enthral me with your wisdom.
@BareAssBrar Classic whatabout.

Explain to me why the orange madman hasn't attacked North Korea then. The Kim family has committed many, many more crimes against humanity than Iran, and also poses a real and direct threat.

Or Myanmar. Or Russia.

@Randahl Fink
@BareAssBear @randahl Is this a competition? Who's committed less war crimes gets a pass?

@BareAssBear @randahl

Irrelevant whataboutism in the current context. TACO Trump has already lost the war, in record time. Iran has won. They've successfully started charging for safe passage, something they weren't doing before the war. They still have the uranium, the US is running out of missiles, and how the HELL does a country that is supposedly bombed to the stone age take out a Warthog? They're practically indestructible.

@randahl

At least the Pope is on duty and claims no war in the name of God!

@randahl "We call on Iran to cease fire immediately!"

@randahl and condemn exactly what? That grandpa is yelling at the clouds again?

Look, I get what you mean, but this is clearly an insane mans ramblings.

Personally I would much prefer to talk about the sane, competent military personnel actually carrying out his illegal orders to commit war crimes.

You can't prevent Trump from giving bullshit orders, but there is a chance that you can persuade others from actually carrying them out by shining a really clear spotlight on the actions they will be legally responsible for, unless they refuse to carry out Trumps illegal orders.

@madsenandersc @randahl exactly! Stop giving the goof the attention he craves. The outrage is what makes him popular with his base. If there is no reaction, they will have to parse it on its own and they will realize how ridiculous he sounds.
@randahl On the other hand, newsreaders are having a great time being able to say fuckin’ bastards on TV
@randahl That does sound like our Canadian government being robust in its defence of international law especially with usa or israel
@randahl
It’s like having the family over for Easter dinner only to have Uncle Don freak out about something. Everyone’s holding their breath hoping he passes out soon.
@Pinchy63 🇨🇦 Only this uncle Don isn't only talking shit, he's also throwing food and lighting the flowers on fire.

Waiting till he passes out isn't the best idea, actively knocking him out would prevent an even bigger mess.
@randahl very carefully not interrupting an enemy while they make a mistake.
@randahl perhaps they are still busy searching for Easter 🐣 🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣

@randahl

🍊officially announces the commission of war crimes, and the world remains silent. The Iranians—whom we supposedly wanted to help—are having their livelihoods stolen by the destruction of their infrastructure or, as 🍊puts it, by “bombing the country back to the Stone Age”! I expect NATO, the EU, and democratic Western politicians to take a clear stand against 🍊 and uphold international law!
