@bobjonkman asks, in regards to group communication:

Q2. Does anyone use whistle codes? The sweep can whistle twice to get the leader to slow down (spreading out too far is the most common problem I see on group rides), maybe three times for a full stop.

Are there standardized whistle codes for this kind of thing?

(Or are there other nonverbal auditory codes for this?)

@ascentale @bobjonkman @bikenite #BikeNite A2. I am not familiar with the concept of "whistle codes", except insofar as three sounds in succession are generally recognized as a call for urgent aid, so I would avoid using that, unless actually warranted.

@gcvsa

In SCUBA cave and wreck diving we use rope-pull codes. A single pull isn't a code, could just be a snag. Two pulls is both question and answer "OK?", "OK!". Many pulls in a row is "Something is wrong."

I trained with ACUC; Wikipedia says other diving associations use different pull codes. So much for standardization.
