Haunted food. My mum spiralised a carrot, and the result is like a cross between Thomas the Tank Engine, Pinocchio, and John Carpenter's The Thing.

@Richard_Littler Uncanny carrot timeline! 🥕🥕🥕

@Richard_Littler Looks like a transporter accident.

Or a Lovecraftian horror.

@Richard_Littler Why does it look so happy? That's a seriously stoic carrot.
@Richard_Littler That's the creepiest incarnation of Thomas the Tank Engine I've ever seen.
@Richard_Littler All I can see here is Cyrano the crab.
@Richard_Littler Well I know what’s going to haunt me in my dreams tonight…

@strangequark @Richard_Littler A body horror book so obscure that the only review on Goodreads is in Italian? Yes please!

@superflippy I picked this book up in a library when I was 10 and it scared the shit out of me.

Decades later I was still haunted by it and tried to find a copy. It's long out of print and indeed seems to have vanished into obscurity. Internet Archive to the rescue.

@Richard_Littler

@strangequark @Richard_Littler Maybe I can find my long-lost horror novella there! It’s called Green Hell and it’s about rubber plantation workers lost in the Amazon rainforest.
@strangequark @Richard_Littler I just read the first chapter and had to take a break. Damn. I can’t imagine reading that at 10!

@superflippy Why I started thinking about this recently:

I was listening to the podcast Scarred for Life, where guests share the three things that terrified them as children. I asked myself, "what would mine be?"

@Richard_Littler

@Richard_Littler

Nope. That thing is from the deep trenches of the ocean. Trust me.

@Richard_Littler I was gonna say creepy pasta but it's a carrot. Keep in mind that was after I decided to read this instead of dismissing whatever fucked up sponge daddy cthulu hell spawn I thought this was and moving on.
