A second GP appointment today, supposedly to check out the ongoing swallowing issues and ongoing loss of feeling in my toes. I got poked in the neck and a thyroid scan booked (I think), but the toe issue "can't be related" and I'd need to book another appointment as they only have 10 minutes per patient (I'd been there ~5). I wonder if the word 'neurology' would have jogged their memory? Now to wait for the neck scan. 🙄
Another episode of BGP doing something wonky? I know what it's supposed to attend for, but perhaps 'big glaring problem' would be more accurate.
I swear that cat was assigned a ginger cat's brain by mistake. I put a cooling mat out for him as it's still horribly warm, so does he use it? Sort of. He's lying on the carpet *next* to it and resting his tail on it. He's almost entirely black so he *must* be feeling the temperature!

This UK gov petition has less than a month to go. With over 80K signatures, it's close.

Petition: Legally enshrine the right of adults to physically transition using NHS services

Introduce a law to legally protect the right of those aged 18 and over to transition using NHS services. This should specifically cover physical transition, including hormone treatment and surgery, as otherwise I believe it could potentially be interpreted as including conversion therapy.

It is Far Too Hot, but I did get an unexpected invitation in the mail... to Jehovah's Witness meeting, with plenty of pictures of a very white Jesus included. As the meeting lasts *three fucking days*, I suspect you would need to be serious about your faith to attend. Personally, I'll be spending that weekend doing something less worshipful, like sleeping.
A very niche special offer this, but Lenovo UK are selling a T490 i5 motherboard for 40 quid (possibly plus VAT). It's showing as "Lenovo BDPLANAR WIN5-8365,8G,vPRO,AMT,TPM2,UWA" but there's no way to link to it direct that I can see.
Some pleasing news today: Norman Tebbitt has finally died. I wonder if he disappeared in a puff of sulphurous smoke? If not, I'd suggest someone stick a stake through his heart, just to make sure he doesn't rise again.

Finally got around to buying a USB-C extension cable to make the port on the back of the PC usable (for data only), also a replacement toggle switch top to replace one that crumbled through repeated use over its ~30 year life. There's also a metal cat litter scoop in with the order (durable and far easier to clean) and a metal bowl (so I can use my Instant Pot to cook rice for one person).

Now I'm nailing my wallet shut. 🙂

Newly released files reveal that the in the 1990s the UK Dept of National Heritage objected to the return of the Stone of Scone to Scotland on the grounds that it would set precedent for petitions for the return of other stolen cultural artefacts - which it did.

Neurodivergent people have always been there (we just weren't 'looking' before)

On why things like #Autism and #ADHD are not, and never have been, a modern 'trend' or recent phenomenon.

Neurodivergent people have always been there (we just weren't 'looking' before)

Many believe neurodivergence (autism, ADHD etc.) is 'new'. But it's been around and has shaped society for as long as humans have existed. We just didn't recognise it for what it was.
