Rice with tamarind soured & spicy vathakuzambu* and sides: crisp fried vattal (dried rice batter crackers), sauteed eggplant, spiced fried up potatoes, spiced drumstick/moringa, and paruppu-usili (toor dal here) with asparagus (rather than typical green beans).

*Or vatha kulambu - the 'z' is pronounced like an 'L' but with tongue starting much further behind at the top of the palate' a bit of an 'r' in the sound

Vattal or vathal. There are multiple kinds, including yogurt soaked sun dried chillis. These ones are the cooked rice seasoned and made into a batter that's dried (Extruded or in blobs). Light and airy and crisp when fried up (fryums), so so so easy to eat.
