Rice with tamarind soured & spicy vathakuzambu* and sides: crisp fried vattal (dried rice batter crackers), sauteed eggplant, spiced fried up potatoes, spiced drumstick/moringa, and paruppu-usili (toor dal here) with asparagus (rather than typical green beans).
*Or vatha kulambu - the 'z' is pronounced like an 'L' but with tongue starting much further behind at the top of the palate' a bit of an 'r' in the sound

Spent 5hrs cooking for #friends before leaving #Germany. Made #SouthIndian food they're unlikely to get in local #Indian restaurants: khaara baath, kesari baath, dose, chutney, potato-onion palya. 😋
Hadn't cooked that fare in 4+ yrs but all came out well. More important, everyone had a good time. ☺️
