@ariadne Indeed that is exactly the point, for the owner class to inculcate the idea that Earth is hopeless & it’s OK to give up on it. Hollywood movies reinforce this. @ariadne It's such a stupid concept. There's no usable atmosphere on Mars and the conditions are far too harsh for long-term human occupation on it's own. For it to even hypothetically work you'd have to build tons of pressurized climate-controlled pods and domes for people to live in, which they can't possibly leave without putting on a bulky spacesuit. And since travelling to Mars is obviously going to be exorbitantly expensive, the only people that'll ever do it are billionaires.

@ariadne in my college science class we had to write a paper on an invasive species, and I chose Homo sapiens. I said Homo sapiens can’t stop themselves from invading all of the land on earth, causing species extinction, and now Homo sapiens are so invasive they are now invading space and other planets.
