DESIRE AND SEXUALITY

"'Every day a thousand kinds of homosexual behaviour challenge the classifications imposed on them' claims Guy Hocquenghem in 'Homosexual Desire' and, I am bound to ask as a consequence, doesn’t he have a point? Aren’t the classifications, all of them, fictional, arbitrary and wholly unstable, ultimately indefinable and uncontainable in and by words? Consequently, should we agree with Deleuze and Guattari in 'A Thousand Plateaus' that 'sexuality brings into play… n sexes… which are so many uncontrollable becomings'?

Desire is desire but it doesn’t have a name, just as many possible forms and expressions as it can take. Eventually, we reach the Deleuzian conclusion which was a quote I actually used in a previous book: 'It is no longer about being a man or a woman, but inventing sexes.'”
