Vittima indirettamente degli Epstein file, ma anche – o soprattutto – di Donald Trump. Il presidente degli Stati Uniti ha licenziato la ministra della Giustizia, ovvero la procuratrice generale, Pam Bondi. L’incarico verrà assunto a interim dal vice procuratore generale Todd Blanche, che è stato anche ex legale proprio di Trump.
La notizia è stata anticipata dai giornali statunitensi e poi confermata anche dal presidente Usa: “Vogliamo bene a Pam, che passerà a ricoprire un nuovo incarico nel settore privato, molto importante e necessario, che verrà annunciato a breve”. Nel suo post Trump ha parlato bene di Bondi, definendola “una grande patriota americana” e anche “un’amica leale” che ha “svolto un lavoro straordinario nel coordinare una massiccia repressione della criminalità”.

I media Usa spiegano che Trump negli scorsi giorni aveva parlato dell’ipotesi di silurare Bondi, prima di comunicarlo alla diretta interessata ieri in un incontro che è stato definito come molto duro e acceso. Ma il vero motivo di questo licenziamento lo rivela il New York Times, sostenendo che Trump avrebbe espresso malcontento per la gestione non solo del dipartimento di Giustizia in generale, ma soprattutto per la gestione del dossier su Epstein, ritenuta fallimentare. Inoltre Trump lamenta il fatto che Bondi non avrebbe condotto indagini o promosso azioni penali sufficienti contro i suoi avversari politici.

The interim appointment will be taken by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who was also Trump’s former personal attorney.

But the real reason for this dismissal is revealed by the New York Times, claiming that Trump expressed discontent over the management not only of the Department of Justice in general, but especially for the management of the Epstein file, considered a failure. Furthermore, Trump complains that Bondi did not conduct sufficient investigations or pursue criminal charges against his political opponents.
