🚍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 The Department for #Transport sets out a vision for bus services in #England outside #London that are reliable, affordable, accessible and environmentally sustainable. #Buses are the most used public #transport mode and are central to economic growth, social #mobility and cleaner energy goals. The government aims to increase passenger numbers by improving reliability, safety, speed, integration and information, while keeping fares affordable.

Delivery will be led locally, with authorities given greater powers under the Bus Services Act 2025 to franchise services, form partnerships or create council-owned operators. Over £1 billion a year will be invested from 2025 to 2029, alongside a £3 fare cap to 2027. Funding can support routes, frequency, vehicles and infrastructure.

A new accountability framework will track performance, alongside measures to improve accessibility, passenger information, safety and the shift to zero-emission buses.

@CLondoner92 That sounds quite impressive, hopefully some of that funding will pass on to Scotland.
