Reasonably sure Mastodon peeps like libraries and might like a peek at this wowzer I stepped into today.

#DasCDMX

@SRDas But you didn't tell us the interesting part. WHERE IS IT?
@golgaloth @SRDas Mexico D.F my library and favorite place, along El Museo de AntropologΓa and the Ciudad Universitaria (UNAM)
@SRDas This is fantastic but wow, that looks vertigo inducing, haha
@SRDas Not good if youre wearing a skirt?
@SRDas Oh gosh, this looks like the haunted house in the movie "13 Ghosts" ;-)
@SRDas I hope it's earthquake-proof
@SRDas I'm assuming that creature in the middle is part of the magical defences, should the library come under attack by otherworldly forces.
@SRDas please my good fellow, tag your blatant bibliophile pornography ;p
@SRDas Shit I was in Mexico City three times / 9 weeks and didn’t go there
@GreenSkyOverMe I hope you can make there - worth it even for a short while (30 mins or so). There was also a small art exhibition there.
Next time!
@SRDas looks like a scene from Labyrinth... torturous and impossible... like an Escherian nightmare.

@SRDas

Knowing just how much paper can weight,
I wouldn't feel safe having all that suspended from the roof

@SRDas gosh, the architects put a lot of faith in the sticking power of rivets and/or welds...
@SRDas that's one of my fav one in CDMX. πŸ–€
@SRDas glass floors too. I like libraries but nope.
@SRDas omg where is this wonderful place??
@SRDas
This makes me think of Hanging Gardens - of human knowledge.
@SRDas Wow, looks quite hostile to people who are afraid of heights.
@brezelradar @SRDas
… or people with arthritic knees (like mine).

@SRDas
It's amazing. From the balconies of the top level there are also some nice views of the city.

@SRDas it looks amazing but I wouldn't be able to use the innermost shelves 🀷

@SRDas

There used to be a guy on Twitter who posted threads of beautiful places. The most beautiful libraries was a real favourite.

@SRDas At first I was like wow, AI has really boosted it's game. Very nice layout.
@SRDas @futzle it’s *suspended*.
Holy living fuck.
That is inexpressibly magnificent.
@SRDas - WOW forward and backward.
@SRDas I was in Mexico, went all the way to the University library to look at the murals, never thought to check this beauty out.
@SRDas that looks super cool, but I dunno if I'd want to be on or under them stacks
@SRDas Holy cow! How did I miss this on my trip there last year?
@astrovelo maybe next time! This place is amazing I want to come back so much! with family!. It was pouring by afternoon after lunch (Los Cucuyos), so I took the bus to get there.
The other place, not sure if I'll make it today - is the library at University City (the outside). Wanted to combine that with the Frida Kahlo museum but no tickets to that available
@SRDas We went to Frida Kahlo museum and the huge archeological museum. Also visited the pyramids at Teotihuacan. Still lots to cover in the next visit. Definitely want to visit the lake with axolotls. Will add that library to the list.
@astrovelo I only spent a little bit of time in the morning at the archeological museum - sooo much there! Definitely need to come back - with family. I'm treating this like a scouting/reconnaissance trip
@SRDas I would be terrified of one of those suspended book stacks falling on me...it would be especially bad in an earthquake.
@SRDas Where do they keep the books about managing acrophobia and vertigo?
@Rob_T_Firefly @SRDas Top level, on the shelves closest to the center of the building.
@SRDas I'd love to roam that for some weeks at least...
@SRDas one of the few good things the Vicente Fox administration left and luckily has survived.
@SRDas Of course, we love libraries!
