kajer :notverified:in my experience, it's all about temperature delta. my garage that gets to 90F? no. datacenter levels of 72F all day every day? maybe. 5400 RPM? 7200RPM?
the only way to tell for sure is to monitor HDD temps with smartutils and dont let those things get too hot.
@kajer @FritzAdalis it is. I've been running it for a few months now and have had no issues. Of course, it's for my open-rack homelab setup, not a data center.
