The #US #military has given #Trump a plan to seize nearly 1,000 pounds of highly enriched #uranium in #Iran that would involve flying in excavation equipment & building a runway for cargo planes to take the radioactive material out, acc/to two people familiar with the matter.

The complex plan was briefed to Trump in the past week after he asked for a proposal, they said, as were its significant operational risks.

The mission would require the airlift of potentially hundreds or thousands of #troops & heavy equipment to support the excavation & recovery of #radioactive material. That could take weeks, former #defense officials have estimated, & take place under fire deep inside #Iran.

Cargo planes? Plural?

A single twin otter has a cargo capacity over 2000 lbs.

If they can fly *in* excavation equipment without a runway, they can get *out* with a measley 1000 lbs. of cargo.
Further digging revealed that there are up to 50 containers of 110 lbs each.
Even adding in 1000 lbs of uranium, so total cargo weight of 6000 lbs.

Roughly equivalent to a single Humvee.
