Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 885 , Tuesday 31/03/2026
Tuesday started at just after 7am.
The usual making of breakfast & chores followed.
It has been a Lovely sunny day which explains why I managed so much!
Then I finished cleaning the Cona coffee machine & even cleaned the stove hob!
Fixed my bedroom door, which has been sticking for a while & my ADHD finally kicked in while I was upstairs for a completely different purpose & bullied me into adjusting the hinges.
Collected the last 12 months worth of drinks cans (which we save) & stashed them in the car for dropping off at the scrap merchants en-route to the cinema.
I also managed to fight off the door demons long enuf to get a small pack of ground coffee - this took longer than planed because the one thing that is not displayed on the packaging of ground coffee is how fine it has been ground & I needed medium to coarse for the Cona.
We had lunch & then I made my first attempt with the Cona … just enough for 2 cups.
It is magical to watch it work, I couldn’t find any methylated spirits for the burner that comes with the set so risked it on the hob. I pre-boiled the water, & added that & the coffee grounds to the Cona. It only took about 3 or 4 minutes to make the coffee.
I have to admit, I was on edge that I would make a mess of the first attempt, but no, it was close to a religious experience! It makes THE most delicious coffee! I’m hooked! This will be the way I make my afternoon coffee from now on (its a bit involved for breakfast). To this end a grinder has been ordered - the best budget one I could find.
We just had time to drink our coffee before setting out for the cinema, dropping off the cans & making a tidy 18 quid into the bargain!
‘Project Hail Mary’ was brilliant, they have managed to capture the story from the book very well & the visual effects, acting & score made it an experience worth waiting for. I really enjoyed my first trip to the ‘Piccies’ in nearly 7 years! I also ate far too many sweets - curse the pick n mix display I never could resist them!
We got home in time for a light meal & then watched an ep. Of ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ (original series) to end the day.
Final Thoughts.
I have had a really good day, the Cona coffee maker is a revelation in my coffee drinking world, I hope that I can repeat & maybe improve upon the inaugural cup! It’s a bit of a faff, but when it makes coffee that good it’s worth it!
I had such a good time at the movies & we are looking forward to going again when a suitable movie appears on the scene!
Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. I am thankful to each & every one of you! 🫂 🫶🐿️🖖
