Good evening Squirrel Fans.

Having been to see ‘Project Hail Mary’ this afternoon I can safely say, without giving too much away, that there were both Divers alarums & definitely excursions! :-

“Divers alarums and excursions', she read, uncertainly. 'That means lots of terrible happenings, said Magrat. 'You always put that in plays.'
Alarums and what?', said Nanny Ogg, who hadn't been listening.
Excursions', said Magrat patienly.
Oh.' Nanny Ogg brightened a bit. 'The seaside would be nice,' she said.
Oh do shut up, Gytha,' said Granny Weatherwax. 'They're not for you. They're only for divers, like it says. Probably so they can recover from all them alarums.”
― Terry Pratchett, Wyrd Sisters

Right, somehow it has got to past 10pm without me noticing so I’m off ot bed to read for a while before sleep claims me!

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, I hope you’re well & safe! 😊🫶🖖

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 885 , Tuesday 31/03/2026

Tuesday started at just after 7am.

The usual making of breakfast & chores followed.

It has been a Lovely sunny day which explains why I managed so much!

Then I finished cleaning the Cona coffee machine & even cleaned the stove hob!

Fixed my bedroom door, which has been sticking for a while & my ADHD finally kicked in while I was upstairs for a completely different purpose & bullied me into adjusting the hinges.

Collected the last 12 months worth of drinks cans (which we save) & stashed them in the car for dropping off at the scrap merchants en-route to the cinema.

I also managed to fight off the door demons long enuf to get a small pack of ground coffee - this took longer than planed because the one thing that is not displayed on the packaging of ground coffee is how fine it has been ground & I needed medium to coarse for the Cona.

We had lunch & then I made my first attempt with the Cona … just enough for 2 cups.
It is magical to watch it work, I couldn’t find any methylated spirits for the burner that comes with the set so risked it on the hob. I pre-boiled the water, & added that & the coffee grounds to the Cona. It only took about 3 or 4 minutes to make the coffee.
I have to admit, I was on edge that I would make a mess of the first attempt, but no, it was close to a religious experience! It makes THE most delicious coffee! I’m hooked! This will be the way I make my afternoon coffee from now on (its a bit involved for breakfast). To this end a grinder has been ordered - the best budget one I could find.

We just had time to drink our coffee before setting out for the cinema, dropping off the cans & making a tidy 18 quid into the bargain!

‘Project Hail Mary’ was brilliant, they have managed to capture the story from the book very well & the visual effects, acting & score made it an experience worth waiting for. I really enjoyed my first trip to the ‘Piccies’ in nearly 7 years! I also ate far too many sweets - curse the pick n mix display I never could resist them!

We got home in time for a light meal & then watched an ep. Of ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ (original series) to end the day.

Final Thoughts.

I have had a really good day, the Cona coffee maker is a revelation in my coffee drinking world, I hope that I can repeat & maybe improve upon the inaugural cup! It’s a bit of a faff, but when it makes coffee that good it’s worth it!

I had such a good time at the movies & we are looking forward to going again when a suitable movie appears on the scene!

Good evening Squirrel Fans.

This, it has to be said, is my experience of the whole pin retrieval paradigm :-

“See a pin and pick it up, and, all day long, you'll have a pin.”
― Terry Pratchett, Going Postal

Right it’s been a long day so off to read for a while before bed.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 884 , Monday 30/03/2026

Monday started at just after 7am, it seems I am doomed not to have a lie in until Mrs S goes back to work!

Did my usual Monday chores then we were off out into the big wide world.

First stop was to begin the process of ordering a headstone, this is not something that happens in a hurry. The plot needs to be left to settle for 6 months before a headstone can be placed.

We were faced with questions that we hadn’t really thought about so things like style & exact wording are still to be finalised.

From the memorial place we headed up to my MiLs house & spent about 3 hours in the continuing battle with the loft contents.

One of the ‘treasures’ that emerged was a Cona Coffee set … in mint condition! The gift box it is in has seen better days but the glassware is pristine having spent something like the last 40 years in my late MiL’s loft!

I do need a manual coffee grinder though, I don’t own one - the De’Longhi coffee machine we have is Bean to cup so the grinder is integral to it.

I will have to pop out in the morning & buy some pre-ground suff just for an in initial trial!

We stopped off for another pub meal on the way home & then settled in for a binge session of ‘Red Eye: Crimson Icarus’ a most excellent series.

Final Thoughts.

Why do people always want to change you?
“Have cold showers”
“Get rid of all your clocks”
“Eat this diet”

Ok the last one has some merit & I do need to get on a healthier diet & get a little more exercise.
I know folks mean well but having achieved level 58 in the ‘Great Game’ I feel that, while there is much in life I still don’t understand, there are things that suit me & that grease the squeaky gates of my existence.
I like to know what time it is & I like to know my clocks are telling the right time. Not because I have a busy schedule, far from it, my life is fairly empty. I even have fairly bad time keeping habits … but I do like to know the time & for it to be the right time.

I have never liked being cold, it is a painful & deeply uncomfortable sensation for me & I avoid it if I can, this may make me a big wuss but it is what it is. I will go out & get cold if there is a compelling reason to do so but only then.

Certain lifestyle choices I do have to change if I want to avoid spending my latter years in a nursing home but some choices I am more than happy to live with.

I am chuffed with us finding the Cona coffee maker!

Good evening Squirrel Fans.

For the uninitiated there are 3 witches living in or near Lancre in the Ramtop mountains; Nanny Ogg, Granny Weatherwax & Magret Garlic. The Maid, the Crone & the … other one (as she is described). By the time of the events laid out in ‘Maskerade’ the maid … isn’t anymore & has also hung up her witches hat having branched out into local government. The 2 remaining members of the Lancre coven are finding it hard to adjust :-

“Among the hissing furze bushes a fire blazed, the flames driven this way and that by the gusts. An eldritch voice shrieked: ‘When shall we … two … meet again?’ Thunder rolled. A rather more ordinary voice said: ‘What’d you go and shout that for? You made me drop my toast in the fire.”
― Terry Pratchett, Maskerade

Right off to read my book, catch you fab folk on the other side!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 883 , Sunday 29/03/2026

Sunday started at around 07: 20 only because the clocks went forward they all read 08:20 - well all the ones that sort themselves out twice a year.

Made breakfast & did a couple of minor chores including trying out my new Go 3 screwdriver on a cupboard door that has been sticking - no more, tis all fixed!
The screwdriver works well although I need to remember this one has an adjustable clutch!

It’s been a windy, wet & generally ‘orrible day weather wise but we were snug inside & had a relaxing day,

Final Thoughts.

Off to my late MiL’s house again tomorrow to do a bit more sorting out - joy!

I need to tidy up in the box room in the next couple of days, the decorator is coming Wednesday evening to price up the job so it needs to not look like something out of one of those programs on demolition!

Good evening Squirrel Fans.

Granny could definitely be talkin about me here! :-

“But you ain't part of it, are you?" said Granny conversationally. "You try, but you always find yourself watchin' yourself watchin' people, eh? Never quite believin' anything? Thinkin' the wrong thoughts?”

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 882 , Saturday 28/03/2026

Saturday started around the usual time, around 07:15.

Breakfast was followed by a prolonged search for a new pint glass for Mrs S as I dropped her favourite one while I was washing up. We have a ceramic sink & while it looks great it is a bugger for killing anything that will break on impact with a hard surface!

It too me ages to find something suitable, in the end I got a LotR one off Etsy. Hopefully Mrs S will like it!

Then I had to clean the upstairs floors, always a fun job!

It was a day for deliveries this afternoon, first the cleaning kit I ordered for Mrs S’s iphone rocked up. It has lots of useful mini tools for getting into the charging ports & such. I gave the phone a good once over & it seems to work ok now.

The kit also came with some dust plugs for the lightening port, made out of aluminium of all things! I wanted to make sure that if the dust plug was removed it wouldn’t get lost so I got out my Dremel™ & drilled a tiny hole thru which to thread a length of fishing line. Or at least that was the plan - what I had not planned for was finding a whole new way to damage myself! I managed to drill right thru the plug & up into the base of the nail on my left hand 1st finger! 🙄🤦‍♂️ This of course bled profusely & required the application of a plaster.

My new set of screwdrivers rocked up later in the afternoon - the first full set I have ever bought, Dewalt ‘maxfit’ demolition ones. They look the biz, time will tell if they are any good. I also got a Bosch Go 3 driver, which is pretty awesome.
This all resulted in an afternoon spent happily rearranging various tool boxes & retiring the mixed bag of screwdrivers I have accumulated over the years - they have gone in my ‘backup’ tool box which is always a joy to pull out as I normally forget exactly what is in it, so there are numerous “oh I never knew I had one of those” moments.

We had a Chinese takeaway for tea & watched ‘Love & Monsters’ on Netflix - a surprisingly good & funny post apocalyptic movie about one wimp & his dog on a journey to find lost love!

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day, despite drilling a hole in my finger &

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 881 , Friday 27/03/2026

Friday started around 07:20.

Breakfast was interrupted when Mrs S decided, as she sometimes does, to lay a problem at my door. She knows that anything like that will steal my attention away from whatever I’m doing at the time - including eating - this time it was the fact that her iphone was not charging properly.
After some cleaning & a couple of resets I got it to charge. It needs a full clean so I have ordered a cleaning kit as I haven’t got anything small enuf to clean out the power port properly.

Then, while Mrs S went over to her mums I did my chores.

We had a relaxed afternoon watching a couple of Mrs S’s shows then started a rewatch of ‘Sherlock’. Not as good as Jeremy Brett’s portrayal of the great detective but a lot of fun nonetheless!

Pizza for tea, which was nice.

Final Thoughts.

A quiet day, didn’t spend too much time here because peopling is increasingly difficult at the moment.
