It bothers me that many people probably don't rotate their cupboard dinner plate stack when replacing clean ones. Which means up and down the country there may be thousands of stack-bottom plates going unused for years
@fesshole I always put the cleanest on the bottom

@fesshole Plates don't have a shelf life, you know
@fesshole we go through all our plates on the regular
@jordan @fesshole right? Being out of clean dishes is the only way to know it’s time to run the dishwasher.

@fesshole

stack bottom plates they make the rockin world go round

@fesshole I only have 6 dinner plates of my every day played, so rest assured: Everyone is used. (Cannot say the same about the porcelain in my dining room cupboard. 15 dishes of each kind....)
@fesshole I'm somewhat confused by the implication that all plates in the stack are the same.

My dinner plate stack would quickly become unsteady if I put the smaller ones to the bottom just because they'd been washed recently.
@fesshole this is why I load my underwear drawer from the back and take from the front

@fesshole

Jokes on you, as if I had enough plates for them to not run out before the dishwasher is full again.

@fesshole reminds me of watching Dame Maggie Smith giving a similar lecture about linen rotation in a BBC period drama.
@john234 @fesshole ...I know about linen rotation but it seems out of character for Maggie Smith's Downton Abbey character to be lecturing on such details
@fesshole But those are my reserve plates only for use in my darkest moments (dishes all dirty and still want snacky).
@fesshole how many plates do you have??
@fesshole Just wait for kiddo to come home from University and he will use every bit of crockery in the household before washing it up… Problem solved.

@fesshole Ha! So I'm not the only one...

Plates, bowls, glasses, cutlery - I always try to take from the top/front, then wash and place at bottom/back.

(Except for mugs - we've collected too many to be shuffling those around all the time. There's probably stuff at the back which hasn't been seen since we moved here...)

@fesshole This has occurred to me, but doesn’t bother me to the point of rotating them.
@fesshole It's better to rotate them so they all shrink evenly.
@fesshole you overestimate my ability to effectively do the dishes...
