The Blue Rocks shack that is not Blue Rocks but Stonehurst. I once wrote a blog about Blue Rocks, and a person left a comment, "That's not Blue Rocks, it's Stonehurst!"

If she had actually read the post instead of responding only to the photos, she would've had a happier day. :)

We were there when we were there, so this is the lighting, but this is a popular subject and most do list it as Blue Rocks.

We were staying with my friend who lived about 30 min from Peggys Cove and one evening, I wanted to shoot sunset from Pollys Cove. It was clear when I left, but by the time I arrived, clouds had moved in and were minutes away from closing the sun from the scene. I only had minutes of light. I do love this landscape.

Tall ships were heading into Lunenburg (to the right) when we were roaming about Blue Rocks. Whenever I see these ships, I imagine the times in which seeing sails like this either brought excitement or fear, when any roads were just wagon tracks.

Some of the blue rocks. These were visible at low tide along a little cove. The geology here is beautiful.

A look at Lunenburg from the other side of the inlet, at low tide.

While I was taking photos of the above scene, an osprey flew over.

Many fishing communities have memorials to lost seamen and soldiers. This is a reminder that the sea can be unforgiving.
