the cheap DX lenses are no substitute for the real deal BUT i am thinking they will do nicely as lightweight packable backups... it's a bit scary going to distant destinations when you are not really allowed the weight to carry a good backup system

a bad photo sure but a "good enough for ebird photo that backs up what was seen." this morning's O with fish over the yard -- and better than a phone photo
