Techbros, I have this one easy trick for you so you don't get yelled at and blocked:

Don't be ableist, misogynist, condescending assholes.

That's it. That's all you have to do.

@stephanie That may be asking a lot of techbros. <long digital sigh>
@WTL Indeed. But then they could go from techbros to men working in tech!!
@stephanie …but… bros… 🤣
@stephanie I’m going to offer up the opposite of a “not all tech bros…” reply. Broaden the call to “men”, not just tech bros.

@uxMark
That's why we need more men to brave up & counter the misogynists & ableists in their midsts. They always call women who don't tolerate their crap - crazy/hysterical/paranoid/etc. They do not listen to women, especially outspoken ones who don't kneel down to their bullying BS - because they don't see us as equal, they see us as lesser than.
Far too many men do not step up enough. Far too many men are still OK letting more women & more disabled folks, shoulder the brunts for refusing to be silenced by misogynistic ableists.

#AllMen - Stop being so damn silent in public arenas. Do more than just react or conveniently choose to ignore women who are constantly taking hits from shithead men, with huge followings, working in tech or any other environment that is OK with misogynistic ableists.

We need a helluva lot more courageous "Cassandra Men".

#Misogyny #Ableism #Bigotry

@PhoenixSerenity @uxMark @stephanie

This happens because the social cost for harassment, *ism, and *phobia is low.
And it remains low because inaction from anyone but the victim is interpreted as consent.

@stephanie Thanks for the education.

"Crazy mask lady" wtf.

@stephanie The bar is so very low.

@stephanie
I might be wrong here but isn't that one of the requirements of being a tech bro?

Related you might like this song. I first heard it on an Anthony Bourdain parts unknown episode filmed in Seattle. :)

And don't, for the love of all that's holy, just DO NOT double down if challenged or called out on bigotry.

Breathe, read, sit. Respond with an apology. You screwed up - even if you didn't mean it.

This goes for everyone sitting with social privileges commenting on someone with fewer social privileges.

(This advice brought to you from a place of actually being the arsehole a few times. And needing to acknowledge and deal with that.)
