Thank you to every person who had choices about where to protest today, and still chose to add their number to a smaller protest.

Sure, it's absolutely impressive to see Philly, Boston, Chicago, L.A. But what's really impressive to me are the smaller towns with enthusiastic participants. It's different when you don't have a big crowd where you can blend in. Granted, I would like to experience one of those huge crowds to see what it's like, but I will probably always prioritize the smaller communities deep in red territory. They might need me more.

At any rate, I am happy for every person who is a part of this in any way whatsoever.

And thank you, Minneapolis/St. Paul for bearing more than your share, and leading the way. We salute you!

@kimlockhartga
Small town/small protests still make a difference to let people in their area know that they aren't as alone in their suffering as they might feel (especially if they aren't attending because all their family are avid Trump supporters claiming they're the majority)
@kimlockhartga
Medium town. SO MANY people Just Showing Up with creative signs, angry or funny or snarky or MY ISSUE, not "I'm here with a group, I said I'd come."
We're exactly the protest that some mock: following directions on the blocked off roads, YES we all have to get back for the GAME tonight, March Madness!
Mock as you will, people showed up. And who KNOWS what they talked about amongst each other and what they'll plan watchin' the game and having some beers.
@geonz I love everything about this! Medium town defiance!

@kimlockhartga

I went to the Boston one, and as someone from a huge blue city, I gotta say: We failed to keep the bastards out in 2024. We *need* you people in small red towns across the country, and appreciate what you do *so* much. Thank you.

@kimlockhartga
I can't imagine attending a large protest like the ones in Philly, NYC, etc. I don't like dealing with crowds, nor the logistics of traveling to + from the rally.

I choose to protest locally where my presence can (IMO) make a bigger impact. It takes a little bit of courage, since I am in a confirmed conservative area. The sense of camaraderie among the protesters is always strong and contains a special kind of joy. I noticed today that there were no hecklers. A first!

@Sharonbw fantastic! We couldn't hear anything any detractors were saying so we just waved. I didn't realize how loud everything was until I listened to my own video.
One guy at our small town protest said "I am my sign."
Just be present people. ♥️
@kimlockhartga yes! All these smaller protests were amazing. I had to run errands before the big protest and at 9 am all the bridges over the highway were filled with protestors, even 15 miles north of the TwinCities
@carsten I hope my old city of Rochester, MN had a protest.
@kimlockhartga We had ±50 people attending, from a population of about 2000 (spread out in the hills). Mostly older, even some Vietnam vets.
@c_merriweather oh yeah. Your area is pretty spread out.

@kimlockhartga Our small town protest had some 200+ people at it seemed like.

It's a place people come to when they want to get away from everything.

I think it's the perfect place to protest. For a bit I thought maybe I should do the big drive into town to the big one. But like, the people in the town that don't want to see that crap are going to drive out of it, to small little get aways...where I am, still quietly reminding them that everything is fucked and why.

:)

@crazyeddie exactly. They can't write it off as a big city thing, if it's everywhere.
