@_L1vY_ I know the drones at Ft McNair in DC were reported but not having the ability in any way to protect the nuclear triad from these drones is a dereliction of duty. And the state actor who did it left the lights on so we could see them. That is hubris and the fact that a country could pull off this hugely complicated operation on our soil is deeply disturbing. @cowanon

@LillyHerself That was the surmise of the author based upon the technical capabilities of the drones themselves, the in-country support required to carry out the attacks, the sophistication of the attacks themselves and the target selection. I agree with the assessment. @_L1vY_

@LillyHerself As my grandfather used to say, all I know is what I read in the papers. From what I’ve learned so far, the technology (offensive and defensive) tactics and operations are too sophisticated and require too much support to be fifth column. The electrical grid people were driving up in a pickup and breaking things so to me it isn’t comparable.

Because they resisted rf interference? Maybe they didn't so much as carry a receiver.
A "state actor" left the lights on? blah.
It happened more than once but no jets were scrambled, no ground sightings led to their identification?
Story has holes.

@Jestbill Hey Bud if you have better info than the reporter, share it. Put up or shut up. Multiple waves of drones over a nuclear airbase that were able to defeat electronic countermeasures and showing we’re defenseless without jet fighters to shoot them down. Not fucking complicated at all /s maybe for you, that’s easy, I dunno. Don’t forget that I can look at all the air traffic on FltRadar24 and so can anyone else. That’s how people knew about the drones over Ft McNair in DC @_L1vY_ @cowanon

Why were there no jets?
Did the drones actually have electronic measures that could have been defeated?
Why would a 'state actor' leave the lights on?
We shot down a party balloon but sit defenseless against mystery drones.

Because there's no civilian aircraft in Ukraine, and they don't hesitate to shoot them down.

They're also being used to access infrastructure in anticipation of upcoming potential hybrid warfare. Whereas Russia is far past that point in Ukraine.

@_L1vY_ it’s fairly amazing that these aircraft fly missions in support of #OperationEpstienFury from US bases. Must cost heaps! It’s also amazing that these drones can appear in multiple waves and no tracking or ownership announced.
