#Trump's Plutocrat-Bigot-Child Rapist power nexus

Now in a #Democrat ruled state district in #MAGA #Florida

"They'll steal the vote"

You'll do #prematureCapitulation and not vote?

"Both sides the same"

You're an idiot fine with MAGA #fascism?

"But my obsessive single issue"

You're fine with destroying #transRights, #womensRights, #immigrantRights, etc in #ToxicIdealism?

#Vote

#Primaries and November

#Democrats suck but we can freeze Trump's agenda

@benroyce The chance that any Democrat will vote for a left-leaning legislation than any GOP member. Therefore, voting for a Democrat, even if they aren't left-leaning, creates a more left-leaning legislature.

Voting in primaries is how you pick your candidate, once at the general, vote Democratic, regardless of issues you may have with that candidate. We can resolve those over time at the next election.

Vote, vote, vote, vote!

#Vote #Democratic #VoteBlue

@RegGuy

i'm trying to think of a sentiment that would disagree with you

and i see only the fucking #toxicidealism losers who are fine with rising #fascism: they only make excuses to do nothing

or the right wing trolls cosplaying left to work a helplessness #psyop on idiots who call themselves left, but aren't really

because their primary concern is their high holy sense of self-regard: to sit things out and judge from an ivory tower

while their world goes to hell

they don't care

#vote

@benroyce @RegGuy all (hand waves) *THIS*, but I also stare at this concept like a fucking mate-in-five chess puzzle. I would LOVE to find a way to fuck with a corporate Dem incumbent without hurting progressive ideals and goals.

@cascheranno @RegGuy

that model has been established:

#mamdani

corporate centrist dems fought him in the #primaries. people showed up anyways

then they positioned cuomo in the general. people showed up anyways

now we have mamdani

BECAUSE PEOPLE FUCKING VOTED

so the model?

fucking show up and #vote! get in real leftists! especially the #primaries

people whining that centrist dems suck doesn't mean shit. it's a red herring. it's a self-defeating whine

ignore centrists and replace them

@benroyce @RegGuy so much of this is GOTV.

Pointing to AOC or Mamdani or etc hides their campaign’s effort & the complex of processes they successfully ran. We can’t just agree ‘gotta vote’ - that neglects how hard it is get voters out. And how well they executed. Heck, fam in midtown Brooklyn got canvassed 3x this year, and couldn’t recall the last time anyone knocked on their door.

Pointing to Mamdani glosses by how easily media ownership and money can and does crush weaker campaigns. Cori Bush and Omar and Sanders and Dean’s scream and etc…

I grew up in a union town pre-Reagan. Blue county in a red state. And we had pro leaders, call trees, flyers, rallies, pot lucks, letter-writing, sign teams, etc. then calls day-of, aunties driving folks to polls, a known roster per precinct, and then a fun party after. These orgs were union. When unions got nuked by RightToWork and closures/offshoring, the area’s become reddish-purple. Hell, religious wedges mean even the ~15% in unions tend red. Fucking nightmarish.

@cascheranno @RegGuy

no

fuck this defeatist nonsense

the primary point of success or failure is people showing the fuck up

that is what mamdani and AOC succeeded in doing *without* centrist support

that is the lesson

meanwhile endlessly making demands before showing up is lunacy. it is exactly why the left loses

what are you asking for?

that all these forces suddenly align with leftist causes? you think that's going to happen?

no, we simply show the fuck up

stop making excuses not to

@benroyce @RegGuy bruh. They won in GOTV. ‘Vote’ times 1e6. All the rest of that bears no resemblance to what I said. Was it copypasta?

@cascheranno @RegGuy

look: say or don't say whatever the fuck you want

if you show up to vote, i have no problem with you. i'm your biggest fan

but put forth any rationale that says we can not effectively vote until certain exigent conditions are met is a flat rejection from me bruh

showing the fuck up is job number 1. everything else is fucking noise

that's it. that's all i'm saying

@benroyce @cascheranno @RegGuy The comparsion I sometimes use is being allowed to use a time machine and vote in Germany's 1932 election.
@LukefromDC @benroyce @cascheranno @RegGuy Sadly a better time comparison might be to end of August 1939... not 1932.

@ManyRoads @benroyce @cascheranno @RegGuy For the most part that's where the current regime here is, but the fact that the election cycle was already scheduled puts der Trumpenfuhrer in the position of having to either openly cancel an election or allow it to theoretically take place.

It is NOT realistic however to ask people to risk arrest to vote unless large and defensible groups can go to polling places together. In some places this could even require armed backup security to prevent ICE vans from leaving with prisoners.

The relative effect of one vote is not enough to justify a double-digit risk of being kidnapped by ICE and sent to a concentration camp.

Tens of millions will be banned from voting if the SAVE (the GOP) act passes, rendering the election a sham and any GOP "victory" null and void internationally and in the streets.

Voter ID alone is a 5% structural advantage to the GOP in the states that have it (all GOP states). Requiring married women to have passports or similar to vote will hugely multiply this, note that the normal time to get a passport is already March->Nov and they cannot (and will refuse to) handle that many expedited applications. Even Real ID drivers licenses won't be enough. That way the GOP gets out of the unpopularity of their abortion ban laws.

If the SAVE act passes and ICE agents are deployed to the polls, I would expect a double-digit margin for the GOP in every state no matter what independent polls show.

@LukefromDC @ManyRoads @cascheranno @RegGuy

all that being said, it's more reason to show up and vote

with group security as you cite

this idea they push these laws, and we obediently not vote as they intend us not to, is alien to me

if someone intends me harm, i'm not going to cooperate with them and give them what they want

anyone who doesn't vote out of concern for security: do they think they have security in the MAGA fascism their nonvote will help deliver?

@benroyce @ManyRoads @cascheranno @RegGuy

If someone is willing to take a double-digit risk of being sent to a concentration camp, there are other things that can be done for that level of risk.

Things like those warehouse fires that are deterring landlords from renting to ICE. Things like fighting on the battlefield in Minneapolis and helping inflict a military defeat on ICE.

Containing the risk to below that level with ICE at the polling places is possible, but it would require us to have enough security details to cover every polling place where ICE is present, and that these security details be able to blend in so as not to run off anti-Trump voters who are unaware of the campaign.

In general, I do not advocate unarmed civil disobedience style tactics in an open Fascist country that sends people to concentration camps. We are well past that point already.

@LukefromDC @ManyRoads @cascheranno @RegGuy

everything you just listed has as much or more risk to personal liberty and bodily harm as massing at a polling place and confronting ICE

nevermind that to actually change things we have to vote. everything you listed won't change things one bit. in fact, it could serve as a reichstag fire moment for the fascists to fake excuse clamping down harder

you're going to take risk now

or you're going to take greater risk later

those are our only choices

@benroyce @ManyRoads @cascheranno @RegGuy

That depends entirely on what ICE actually does at polling places. Theoretically, ICE is not supposed to have jurisdiction at all over anyone with citizenship, thus there should be nobody at any polling place ICE has probable cause to stop.

In actual practice however, ICE is being sent there to racially profile Latinx-looking voters, who are something like 20% of the total. ICE takes the position that even Real ID drivers licenses are no longer enough for them.

Anyone who takes the position that they are not going to a concentration camp alive and is even remotely Latinx looking is going to think long and hard about going inside if they arrive at a polling place alone and find ICE agents outside staring at them.

I believe ICE is going to have to be stopped by force as in Minneapolis. Deportation flights from that city have plunged to low levels since Jan 14 and are being kept down by the continuing fighting there.

Jan 14 was the day ICE shot someone inside their own home and then tried to lie about it. A neighborhood uprising ensued, and ICE threatened more gunfire. After neighborhood residents threatened to return fire, ICE retreated back to the highway and was pursued. They abandoned their cars, leading to the destruction of the cars, the capture of weapons, and that treasure trove of captured intel including even their challenge coins.

From then on, every time ICE got into a fight in Minneapolis, they had to assume there were guns in the crowd. They are bullies not soldiers, so more and more of their kidnapping attempts after Jn 14 have ended in failure. Often ICE has been chased away and there have been many successful unarrests.

All of this means the door for Trump to cancel the elections is now bolted and barricaded, though he may still seek to batter it down.

If he needs a Reichstag fire he will use the Iran War, as it would trigger less domestic pushback to blame Iran for a blown up refinery that to blame "antifa" for a burned down empty warehouse assuming its used for an excuse to cancel or "secure" an election.

In fact, I think Trump started the Iran War in response to his defeat in Minneapolis. It has mushroomed out of control, threatening to merge with both the civil war here and the war in Europe into a third world war.

Now we have the age of enlistment being boosted to 42 in the US, Volkswagon having to retool a car plant to make air defense systems (which may be needed domestically in Germany the way this is going), and Trump yakking about bringing back the draft (with his bone spurs?)

@LukefromDC @ManyRoads @cascheranno @RegGuy

luke:

we can brave the polling place and maybe go to the concentration camps

or we can avoid the polling place and then we *will* be going to the concentration camps

that's our only choice

@benroyce @ManyRoads @cascheranno @RegGuy

Or after either one of those resolves to "go to the concentration camps" we can defy and resist by any means necessary, following such precedents as the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The only way I am going to any concentration camp is as hamburger.

Obviously I speak of a multilayer defense here. There is Minneapolis and the other occupied cities we are WINNING in. There is the election. There is the possibity that the Iran war ends in a way that throws down Trump. There is the election.

ALL of those have to go Trump's way for him to deport or gas the 100 million people he now wants to "deport" but whom the rest of the world will probably refuse to accept.

When you are up against the Final Solution the only recourse is to fight to the death. At Sobibor, the only known survivers were participants in a concentration camp uprising and breakout.

@LukefromDC @ManyRoads @cascheranno @RegGuy

Well maybe we can just fucking vote and freeze trump's agenda in nov so we don't have to talk this drastic?

@benroyce @ManyRoads @cascheranno @RegGuy

I'm not saying not to, rather I'm saying it probably won't STOP him, so don't rely on it and don't bet your life on it. Measure the resources used and the risks taken, and be sure to save plenty for what comes next no matter what that may be.

This is like trench warfare-you need to have another trench to fall back to already dug behind the one you are defending if you don't want an enemy breakthrough to lead to your defeat.

Even if we overcome the SAVE act and bring enough muscle to the polls to shut down ICE's voter intimidation, his next gambit may be a refusal to recognize the outcome. Most likely this would be done by using more executive orders and trying to de facto dismiss Congress outright. He himself is not on the ballot.

He already has SCOTUS on most issues, and has defied hundreds of lower court rulings and gotten away with it.

Congress cannot freeze Trump's agenda if he finds a way to spend tax money (or donations from enough billionaires) without Congress.

@benroyce @ManyRoads @cascheranno @RegGuy

Massing to vote will be no more dangerous than a protest. Solo voting for some may be as dangerous as showing up for one of ICE's "check-ins"

@LukefromDC @ManyRoads @cascheranno @RegGuy

and not voting means everything you worry about will be more of a certainty

@benroyce @LukefromDC @ManyRoads @cascheranno Failure of approximately 7 million people objecting to the Gaza war and blaming Biden are the reason we are in the fix we are today. None of this, zero, none, not one bit of the horror we see right now happening in America caused by Trump would have happened in a Harris administration. NONE.
@RegGuy @benroyce @LukefromDC @cascheranno Woulda-shoulda-coulda. Maybe but this IS what we have.

@RegGuy @benroyce @ManyRoads @cascheranno

Part of the problem is some of it DID happen in the Biden (Biden-Harris) administration, namely the genocide of Gaza.

As soon as Biden earned the name "Genocide Joe" and I heard it at a protest, I figured Biden has served up the 2024 election to Trump on a silver platter.

I am wondering if that was Netanyahu ensuring Trump would take office by poisioning Biden's original re-election bid.

Harris could have salvaged her bid by distancing herself from Biden and vowing to stop the genocide, if necessary by cutting off arms to Israel. She figured however that she could tell her base "my way or the highway" on Gaza. The highway it was, and Trump is now in office. Tens of millions may have stayed home from 2024 over Gaza. Yes, Trump is worse yet on Palestine but this was more than voters could stomach.

@benroyce @LukefromDC @cascheranno @RegGuy The thing about inaction- it IS an action & produces unintended consequences. Ignoring fear- does NOT remove danger. Being afraid- does not make you brave.

There is only one person who cares about your destiny- you. If you don't take care of you, who will. The answer is no one.
