What a really shitty way to treat children. I hope all the people responsible for this have something happen in their personal life that gives them pause to recognise the unnecessary pain they've inflicted on innocents. And I hope it eats away at them inside. And I hope they choose to use that pain to undo some of their harms.

Transgender girls told they must leave Girlguiding by September

The move follows an announcement in December, stating that transgender girls would no longer be able to join the organisation, as it confirmed it was limiting its membership to "girls and young women".

That's awful.

Girl Guides Canada doing better:

â€ĸ GGC welcomes cisgender and transgender girls and women, as well as non-binary and two-spirit youth who feel comfortable in female-focused spaces.
â€ĸ We actively create a culture of safety, belonging, and celebration; youth are embraced for who they are with respect, warmth, and understanding.
â€ĸ Preferred names and pronouns are always used.
â€ĸ Guidelines for the Inclusion of Transgender and Non-binary Members support safe, welcoming, and affirming environments for all.

@surdfish

Fuckn Canada. Always kicking our ass and making us look bad. 😊🍁

@TheBreadmonkey

Don't jinx us, neighbour! We have our fair share of closed-minded arsehole activists tryin' to ruin everyone's good time. Got to watch them constantly, lest they get another book banned or a rainbow crosswalk erased. ✌ī¸đŸĻĢ❤ī¸â€đŸ”Ĩ

@surdfish @TheBreadmonkey when they announced this, I gave a donation and specifically called it out as the reason why they'd earned my support. I'll be giving again this year, because girls deserve a place to be accepted, and this is punk AF. 🤘

@surdfish @TheBreadmonkey "who feel comfortable in female-focused spaces"!!! THAT is the phrase that was eluding me
