In Finnish folklore, Äkräs was a goddess of many plants, especially rutabagas (and later potatoes). Conjoined ones were called "äkräs rutabagas," and believed to have extra fertility power if placed in a hole as part of a ritual. Bread was offered to Äkräs before a field was sowed.
