There are plenty of good arguments to support renewable energy.

We wouldn't be in the mess we are now if voting and policy were based on a rational weighing of facts. Sloganeering, memes, passion, fear and selfish desires are what drive people to get out of their default apathy and vote for things.
People are busy and only willing to spend so much mental energy outside their everyday interests. A simple, understandable, sticky message is more effective at spurring collective action.
@avilewis Any plans to encourage electric vehicle manufacturing and adoption? The Brightdrop truck was manufactured in Canada and recently cancelled - but was a great way to reduce emissions from urban delivery vehicles.
An incentive that allows businesses to write off 100% of an electric vehicle purchase in the same year it was purchased worked well to spur adoption before.
@codewizard @avilewis You can install your own solar panels. You can also install a small wind power plant on your land, but it requires you to own enough land so the neighbours, and you, are not disturbed by the sound from power plant.
To increase your independence you can also install a battery bank. I don't think wind + solar + battery is enough in 100 % of the cases so you might still need to be connected to the grid if you want electricity all the time.
