@Life_is @randahl Authoritarian regimes are always hotbeds of corruption. Not by choice, but the nature of the regime requires corruption as method of generating and rewarding loyalty.
There is a very interesting book by Frank Bajohr about the corruption in the Third Reich "Parvenüs und Profiteure". It is easy to recognize the similarities...

@randahl I may voice an unpopular opinion, but at this point in the e14n timeline shutting down the Internet would probably turn out positive in the balance of things. Current trainwreck? Irrepairable.
It would immediately halt Big Tech’s Big Surveillance&Control and halt/reverse Big Slop’s Wreck Your Cognitive Skills program.
