Because it is abundantly clear that X and the Meta products use their algorithms to sway elections and influence governments all over the world, and no reason to think this doesn't include us. @johnefrancis

Do they say why? What's wrong with Mastodon?

If they're afraid of data breaches running their own would allow them full control. Not that Mastodon keeps enough data on you to be much of a security risk.
