All this repeating of "but the straight of #Hormuz is of strategic importance to #Europe!" more and more sounds like Europe's economy's been built on the wrong premise. Like with those in #USA who claimed "but #slavery is of strategic importance to our economy!" I'd say look it sucks but you have to take a step back and rebuild on better foundations. Hormuz is not Europe's, oil is not Europe's, yes it sucks if the seller stops selling but it's still their #oil and land and sea

@duckz All the Arab Gulf states, have been since their conception, puppet states of the British. Not even just Gulf countries, King of Jordan too is half British. Gulf monarchies have their administrations composed of mostly ex CIA/MI6 officers. They aren't independent sovereign states, or independent sovereign sellers of oil/gas.

As a result, the West firmly believes "their" oil and gas belongs to us, and acts accordingly.

@Rastal @duckz add to this, #StraitOfHormuz is a chock point by design. When #germany tried to build an alternative land based route to gulf oil (#berlin #baghdad #rail), to overcome #british grip on trade maritime routes, they went to ww1 war, divided the region to make sure such rail/route would never be built. Now this chock point turned to be a vulnerability when you actually don't control the water way
@hszakher @Rastal I see, I guess with all that in mind the propaganda makes a bit more sense. But still, time to let go of the old colonial days, imo
